Josh Thompson: As most know, Nacogdoches (TX) CB Josh Thompson was offered by Texas after working out at the Under the Lights camp. There was some talk about Thompson possibly not getting the offer from Texas after the camp and that was false. I was told the staff found Thompson after the camp and circled him to let him know of the good news. Even freshman DB, and Josh’s close friend Brandon Jones tried to sneak in the circle to see what was going on.
Texas is a major, major player in this one as DB commit Kobe Boyce, QB commit Sam Ehlinger, and just about every member of the 2016 class that was out at UTL were recruiting him hard on Saturday. There was talk about TCU possibly pulling Thompson’s offer if he visited Texas, while I was told that isn’t true I was told that, “TCU isn’t happy at all.†And the Horned Frogs staff is doing quite a bit of negative recruiting vs Texas right now. – (Andrew)
– More on Thompson: Just wanted to add that in speaking to a couple sources, I get the sense a Josh Thompson flip could happen sometime in the very near future. One source said it could happen in the next week or two. – (Super K)

Baron Browning: This was another guy who received the red carpet treatment on Saturday. Browning arrived over three hours before the event began to spend some time with the Texas staff. I was told Browning always had someone around him recruiting, QB commit Sam Ehlinger, LB Malik Jefferson, LB Anthony Wheeler, DB DeShon Elliott, and HC Charlie Strong were working on Browning all night long and it sounds like the visit was a success.
It still looks like it’s a Texas vs the out of state schools like Ohio State and UCLA, but it can’t be overstated how big it was for Texas to get Browning on campus last weekend over him taking his 2nd trip to Ohio State on his own dime. Nonetheless there is still a long way to go in this recruitment. – (Andrew)
