2017 Recruiting Thread Part 1

I asked a friend (BU grad, wife's bestfriend's husband) about the reinstatement of Briles since he initially said, "Finally, someone is thinking straight" to an article on a FB newsfeed. I asked him what would he think if his daughter had been involved. His reply,

First of all, regardless of how we feel or think, we cannot predict how another human being is going to turn out. In fact some well respected individuals turn out to be serial killers. Which gets back to Briles. He can't predict what his players are going to do in the future. As such, those who do wrong should be punished. Yet, college coaches have no experience in conducting criminal investigations. Which is why those were turned over to local authorities to investigate. Obviously some were prosecuted others were not. The local authorities should be the ones answering for those who were not. If the board of regents felt the player should not be a Baylor student, they have the ability to make that happen. Obviously that didn't happen. So in essence the one who's taking the most heat is the one who may just have been told it was being handled when it wasn't.

I noticed he never answered your question regarding "if his daughter had been involved."  Baylor just oozes disgusting right now.

Seems to be some noise that Duvernay ends up on the forty.  Sure would be a nice addition.

We need all the weapons we can get!

I agree Spur. Plus you never know who is going to pan out, get injured, etc. when the Horns were regularly winning ten, their talented depth was pretty amazing. That's a real key to winning consistently. Plus I believe talent brings in other talent. Great players want to play with other great players.

Whats with all the noise surrounding Carson and being a grade risk.  It would have to be really bad if they already consider him an issue to get accepted and he hasn't even begun his senior year.

i've seen mention that devin is expecting to announce his destination in the next day or so.  the point has been made that he is likely to be a major player this season and even in the first game if he and his qb can begin now developing some chemistry.  if he were to wait until baylor or the ncaa frees his brother, it might be mid-season before devin can begin truly making his mark on the college game.  depending on his choice, of course, devin might make his splash in a nationally prominent first game.  what a start that would be.

a second reason i've not seen mentioned for devin to cast his lot now involves donovan.  right now donovan is hostage for two players.  the moment devin becomes unavailable the incentive for baylor to hold donovan against his will is reduced by some 50%, depending on the relative values baylor expects the two young men to represent.

for myself, we've had such a history of great play from brothers of highly recruited players, that i'm anxious to see donovan in his longhorn uniform.  you pups go read about tim and steve campbell, for starters.
