My personal feelings about the guy don't cloud my judgement that nickle and dimeing the program wasn't helping. Patterson left Wickline hanging. He lied to Coach Strong about his decision to move the academic center out of Moncrief. His refusal to spend when money and his treatment of assistant coaches would have meant no Gilbert.

I personally expect to look back on the hires, 10 years from now, and believe they were excellent hires. Therefore, credit has to go to Patterson. Yes others were involved but, he had final say. Can't argue that he should get credit for the hires. If he had stayed I don't think I would see the same success in the athletics dept we will see with him gone.
