And, at least according to Wiki, aggy went 0-48-6 v. the SEC prior to actually joining the SEC

The problem with the people like Higs, Burton and etc. is that they're in a business that in the past allowed them to operate in a certain fashion but they don't recognize those days are expiring. You think any of those guys behind pay walls are interested in giving you everything they've got? No way. They need you to come back. They need you to renew that next month. This is more about $$$ (very understandable) than it is about reporting for them. And that will always be the case until they find (and they will in the coming years) that paying for information doesn't appeal to people anymore.

I pay for 247 because I really enjoy all of the work put into their Crystal Ball platform. They get my money for that one lone feature. They don't get it because I think it's in any fashion, vital, for me to be up to date on what they're reporting. Because this is the Internet and I'll simply see that info posted elsewhere a minute or two later. I don't put my wallet behind people who are merely interested in pulling as much money out of my billfold as possible. I put my money behind people who love what they do and have a genuine passion for it. We have a lot of new faces so many of you may not know that HS was a pay-site for a very brief period of time.

They put an end to that practice, not because it turned people away as many of us were happy to pay up for great insight at the time. But rather because they didn't feel as if paying for information was the right way to build a community. When Aaron asked me if I'd be willing to help out with a HornSports T-Shirt design, I talked with him about what he was hoping to gain in revenue off of the shirts so I could accurately price them. His response to me was "Price them as cheap you're allowed to price them. I don't need to make money off of these shirts. They're for the community."

That's the kind of guy/site I put my backing behind. HS has never wavered in the importance it places on this community. And it also just so happens to have some of the best reporters/journalists in the business. The kind that don't play around with information to keep you coming back. And the kind that put their reputation on the line because they trust in what they're saying, rather than back pedaling at the 25th hour.

Swear I'm done ranting now.

Nobody is ripping you for being on the site. That's your life, do with it as you choose. I don't have any opinion about people who choose to subscribe to those sites. But I do have an opinion about those who come from those sites wagging fingers and about journalists/reporters who withhold and misuse information in whichever way turns them a profit.

But I'm going to stop now because this is the recruiting thread and I'm posting OT way too much.

As long as the re-publication of the copyrighted material is for the purposes of satire or parody, use is allowed under fair use doctrine.

Ergo, everything aggy produces falls under fair use doctrine.
