Agree 100%  He basically singlehandedly ruined the conference.
Not to hijack the thread, but exactly how did Deloss singlehandedly ruin the conference? The Big 12 has been living on borrowed time since its inception.

Texas is a tough fit in any current conference. The academic side has more sway in things at the university than most other schools. Certainly more than at aggy or OU. The academics at UT will not allow UT to go to the SEC. The academics nixed Prop 48 partials when the Big 12 was formed as a condition of the university joining, even though that meant from the start Nebraska would be leaving the conference. Colorado had more alumni in California than in all the non-Colorado Big 12 footprint. Their alumni demanded the conference switch so they could see the team play games. The Big 12 conference was doomed from the day it was formed.

Texas going to either the PAC or the Big 10 will cost the university hundreds of millions of dollars.

The Big 10 doesn't give full distributions to new members until they have been in the conference six full years. Last year the Big 10 Network generated about $1 million per school. Remember the first years of LHN were less than the $15 million average, so giving that up will cost well in excess of $15 million per year net of the new conference's network deal. Six years of reduced conference distributions, six years of no LHN revenue and the fact the Big 10 even splits gate receipts among the member schools and it will add to well over $150 million to join the Big 10 just in the first six years.

The PAC would be even more expensive because of the income disparity between UT at $180 million and the current PAC revenue leader is USC at $105 million. That is less than Baylor pulls in. None of the PAC schools made it in the top 20 nationally in terms of revenues for fiscal 2015.

So, the SEC is a non-starter. The PAC and Big 10 would be horrendously expensive and the ACC is even less financially attractive than the PAC or Big 10.

There isn't any really attractive option out there.

Burton --

Chris Daniels - 85% (Texas)

"Texas A&M threw the kitchen sink at Chris Daniels this weekend.  But Texas remains highly optimistic.  So no change IMO on the percentage there despite reports to the contrary elsewhere."

More Burton --

"I think Deontay Anderson is locked in to the Rebels."

--------------

He says Southall is ou vs. Texas (forget Ole Miss)

--------------

Fowler -- ".... too close to call at this point."

-------------

"Kyle Porter visited Arkansas over the weekend. I spoke to the Arkansas reporter late yesterday and he said they got no feel from Porter after the visit. I think TCU remains the team to beat. However, Porter will have a Texas LOI he can sign on Wednesday if he so chooses."

Burton has us as the favorites for all 5 of the DT's announcing on NSD (DCG, Elliot, Taylor, Daniels, and Southall).  Southall announces first, then a couple of hours later Daniels, then two hours later the other three.  Should be fun.

I've been wondering about Southall...seems to be the forgotten man

in all the chatter.
