10 quarterbacks to watch from the recruiting class of 2016

Shane Buechele, No. 9 QB, enrolled at Texas

After a 5–7 season in which quarterbacks Jerrod Heard and Tyrone Swoopes combined to throw for 1,751 yards and nine touchdowns (both last in the Big 12), coach Charlie Strong can’t afford loyalty or patience with his returning passers. That means Buechele will have a solid opportunity to win the job beginning in spring practice. Even if he can’t win over new offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert in time to start Week 1, don’t rule out Buechele taking over mid-season if Heard or Swoopes struggle.

Yeah, this narrative come out after every season. This year it MIGHT be true only because of the new OC and we clearly showed we had no idea what we were doing on offense at the QB position last year.

Not to mention that team drills won't even start until March. Basically anyone "reporting" on what's going on at this point most likely has a bias or agenda.

The only thing I will remember about this recruitment is how our other recruits put pressure on him to go ahead and leave if he was not fully committed.  open a spot for someone else.  That was pretty remarkable.

Otherwise, good luck to him.

This is the program that somewhat Charlie's recruiting yesterday.  The main guy was the host -- he played bad cop while Tom Lugenbill and the other recruiter guru sort of walked it back a bit.  I dont know what the hosts motivations were, but he seemed like he was doing his best to sway recruits away from going to Texas.
