Burton says a player with a Texas offer and committed elsewhere has been reaching out to Texas a lot of late. He said look for a new visitor on the 29th.

If you recall, there are two FSU_247 mods who have made CB predictions on DJax

They split

Chris Nee picked Texas

But Josh Newberg picked FSU

Newberg is now starting to slowly crabwalk back his CB prediction

FSU visits him today

Newberg CB watch will begin after that

I'm going to guess Jordan Elliott.
Honestly, I don't think he's in play anymore. He's heard all the talk of him flipping so many times and I think he's sick and tired of hearing rumors about Texas. Tbh, I think he's going to sign with Michigan now even if it's just to prove people wrong about his loyalty and commitment. I think he knows what people might say, and I don't think he's going to do anything that might fuel that kind of talk.

Man! Just when I get "caught up" and somewhat familiar with the names associated with this class, another gets thrown into the mix. Geez! My head is spinning. I love it! Hook Em! \\m//

IT, or someone, reported that an Elliot visit on the 29th was a possibility - so maybe that is who he is talking about.  If the D-Jax/McCulloch/C Brown package is real - I could see Elliot wanting to get back in.
If Texas lands Jackson, McCulloch and Brown it will absolutely have an impact on Elliott.

Elliott went to Michigan thinking he could pull some Texas recruits with him, but that isn't happening.

This isn't a slight at Elliott in any way, but big talkers are often followers. Like you said, Burton's update is very similar in reference to what IT has been reporting on Elliott.

The original package deal

Plus, there are more Rashan Gary CBs to Michigan all the time

Big Blue has 23 commits already (but 7 are EEs) and two of them are DTs (including Elliott)

I doubt Gary would scare Elliott off (diff positions in Mich line probably), but all his friends coming to Texas might

Nope.  I would have bought Cherry's ticket home myself after the shitshow on twitter he displayed.  Lampkin, screw that guy, IMO he intentionally failed Spanish just so he could try to get out of his LOI.  He was pissed when Rumph left and was trying to game the system.  I hope he felt good flashing the horns down symbol this past Red River game only to go home with a loss.  Strong did the right thing by not releasing him.  Devo was worth the chance, its a shame it didnt work out.

None of those mishaps can be laid at the feet of Strong or anyone else on the coaching staff.
Assess blame later. The fact is the staff spent valuable time chasing after recruits that didn't make it to the first day of the season. While the excuse "it happens to every team" may or may not be true, the reality is that the staff is in a deep hole and isn't going to get out of it by mistakenly recruiting the absolute wrong players.

Back to the original question, does anyone have a read on how many of this year's commits or targets are grade risks?

Maybe one is all I have heard. Also this deep hole you speak of who created it?

I can't imagine you're going to get an answer on this. It's a rare group of athletes that have their grades brought up each year. There were concerns about Clarington, Johnson and Lampkin going into NSD last year. I haven't heard of any grade concerns as it pertains to the players we're pursuing. The only grade discussions I've seen revolved around a JUCO DT that couldn't transfer to Texas and Williams/Eboh being accepted into Stanford. Thus I don't imagine we'll have the same grade-related attrition in 2016 as we did in 2015.

I've got my E.T. foam finger ready and waiting.  Phone home Elliot.
