"As each day passes you are going to see other media members start predicting more and more kids end up at Texas – It’s already started . You will also see more and more people start to say Texas closes as strong as any other team in America.  15 days and counting.  There are so many things going on right now behind closed doors, and I for one can’t wait for this class to close it on out."

again, we had the same type of positive messages flying around last year.  so, although it's good to see, when ink meets paper and flies through the internet to the 40, i'll reserve my excitement.  17/18 yr old minds can change on a dime.

And again, the majority of those positive messages last year turned out to be correct.

We had --

Scout's #7 Overall Class

ESPN's #9 Overall Class

247's #10 Overall Composite Class

That is a very good result for any team after a losing season + getting embarrassed in a bowl game.

This is not the NFL.  The teams with the worst records dont get first crack at the best players.

Not sure your expectations are realistic

Weren't those rankings including Clairington, Lampkin and Gilbert Johnson (and, of course, Cecil Cherry)?

Is there any word yet on how many of this year's targets and commits have grade issues?

I thought we were #14 after losing Lampkin, Cherry, and Gilbert.

Clarington was highly rated so it may have dropped more.

Not the point.  All schools lose a few. You guys should know that (look at Mack's 2013 class for example)

He is complaining about the class that was signed last year.  He thinks the class signed did not match the positive rumors that were floating around here this same time last year.  He thinks the 2015 Texas class was a really bad class despite the high rankings and the multiple true freshmen All-Americans we got from that class.

And he is then projecting that erroneous idea onto the current class he thinks we will sign this year (or wont sign, to be more precise).  He will be wrong about that too.

He may be aggy or something akin to that

So far as we know none of the players we've got committed or are currently in on have qualification issues.  We appear to be steering clear of any questionable cases this year.

Is that after re-ranking every other team in the top 15 that lost players due to grades/other?
I dont know.  Rivals shows us at #12 with the all of those players above.

I tried to find it on Google but wasnt able to find anything with regards to adjusted rankings.

Higs seems to be coming around on DJAX

He kept insisting we would not get him if he did not OV (and Bama has/had his last OV)

But it appears Higs now sees the light (I think)

Of course they do.  ags lost Kyler etc.  Duke just asked a question and I was curious as well since there has been talk about this before.

I could have sworn I read something about our overall ranking had dropped to #14 but Hip might be right, that adjust the other teams or just our class minus the other players.  I cant find anything on adjusted rankings and do not even know if there is such a thing a year later.

Everyone seems to get so defensive anytime something is brought up that may be negative.  As if Devo possibly cheating on his test has anything to do with Strong.  Its ridiculous.  Relax people.

I couldn't care less about any class ranking. My question was based on the fact that when key members of a recruiting class sign LOIs and never see the field, it doesn't do much to solve the mess that Texas football is mired in.

Excitement about recruits means nothing if the coaches are recruiting individuals who can't qualify.

Does anyone know how many of the current commits/targets are at risk for not qualifying? It's a question that should be asked every year going into signing day. I'm asking it.

I was addressing Rot.  i thought you two were defending his regular moaning
Nope.  I would have bought Cherry's ticket home myself after the shitshow on twitter he displayed.  Lampkin, screw that guy, IMO he intentionally failed Spanish just so he could try to get out of his LOI.  He was pissed when Rumph left and was trying to game the system.  I hope he felt good flashing the horns down symbol this past Red River game only to go home with a loss.  Strong did the right thing by not releasing him.  Devo was worth the chance, its a shame it didnt work out.

None of those mishaps can be laid at the feet of Strong or anyone else on the coaching staff.

Higs was asked about everyone's favorite Hammy.

-- "That guy is not going to have a good day on ND.   Nope."

ps - Higs also hinted at a coming position change for someone
