2015 Recruiting Thread

I don't know how I feel about this. I wish I knew Kyler's thought process (in terms of his interest in UT and interest in football for the long-term versus baseball)

When Sumblin said in an interview that Kyler was given "the day off" and he expected Kyler to be at the next practice, I knew right then Kyler was leaving. All Sumblin did was tick him off saying that.

No matter how this ends, aggy is in PR hell right now. They've lost two 5-star QBs on the heels of a 4-star QB leaving. Aggy has the appearance of a QB purgatory right now. And all of this happens at the end of the season with a month of recruiting left to try to find a decent QB and start a new relationship with them at the end of the recruiting cycle.

Sumblin is on NO ONE's list of desirable coaching candidates right now. . . and to think he was flirting with USC prior to the Sarkasian experiment. My how the mighty have fallen.

The locker room is a mess. The QB situation is a mess. The HC is a mess. Disarray, chaos, dogs and cats sleeping together, end of times stuff – and I keep coming back and hoping there's more. LOL

I've been a UT fan since 1961. In most of the years since then, the consensus among fans is usually that UT's best QB is the kid who has yet to play a college snap. Year after year, a collective amnesia sets in in the Fall on that topic. You can almost set your watch by it, along with the later protestations that they (fans) never said such a thing. If only those dumb assed coaches would just listen to us.

We're playing semantics. I consider an insider someone who is just a poster on a board who has access to info within a program. I consider Higs an employee of SCOUT who has sources within the program.

So you're trapped by your own selective definitions.

As someone who ran a newsroom for most of a 17-yr career in the print media, I can say that if what you say was indeed true, you would never see the word "sources" used by Hig. You would see direct and specific attribution like most editors require of their writers since the beginning of the printed word for the masses.

Instead, he uses the word deliberately as to not have to reveal the person's identity who is providing him with the information – otherwise, a source providing insider information. He did this EXTENSIVELY throughout the month of January last year.

Chip Brown is an employee of scout (intentionally lower case because I have no idea why we're upper casing a website name), yet he relies on "sources" just like Hig. There is no difference other than Hig sources are on the staff while Browns are all over the place. But the entire reason for his presence on scout and previously ob is because of his well placed inside sources. He breaks news because of it. He's made a name because of it.

Chip Brown is not "just a poster on a board who has access to info within a program." You know it. I know it. Everybody with a pulse knows it. We didn't even have to leave the staff of scout to find an example to disprove your selective definition.

I posted it in a other thread, but I'll post it here because I've seen his name come up a few times. Living in Belton, and being close with some coaches, I was told that Shackleford would come to Texas only if Wickline were to be gone. (That was before the Gilbert hire) Now with Wickline gone, he is still expected to come to Texas. Being an EE, he is gonna decide soon.

I don't know, last year's class will look pretty good when its said and done. Two freshmen (Vahe, Connor) won starting positions. Buck Major will be too valuable to keep off the field next year. That's three starters who might get locked in for the duration of their careers.

Buck Major is going to be special.
It's worth mentioning that Connor Williams was named to the ESPN True Freshman All-America Team.

And for those who're hung up on the number of top 50 players that we've signed...It's also worth mentioning that ESPN's 2015 player rankings for Texas had him listed as the #98 player in the state.

I think it's great that Williams made the ESPN True Freshman All-America Team...but, how many true freshman were redshirted because someone better was playing in front of them. Some of them could still be better than Williams.

With that said, I agree with you. I don't get caught up in rankings. Prove it on the field. Show improvement every year and play in games. When it's all said and done, rankings before a kid plays a down in college are somewhat meaningless.

To me an insider is some One who claims to have contacts with Ath. Dept. I know some one who knows a coach

but I have no inside infro. Like most just opinion but still will bet Texas does not take 27.

No, that appears to be your desired role here. We all agree you are the smartest and most knowledgeable poster on the Internet.
Bless your heart. I have a great idea for you how about you ignore my post and if that doesn't work for you. Suck it.
