2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

Keivon Ramsey released a top 5 yesterday in no particular order.  UT, LSU, Texas Tech, Baylor and Oklahoma.

Johnnie Johnson's kids, Kirk (2015 RB/Ath) and Collin (2016 WR), will make decision "around May 15" after visiting USC, UCLA and Tennessee.

A few years ago, I was talking to Johnnie about his book and his two boys were all he wanted to talk about.  They were both tearing up youth football in California.  He said that he wouldn't tell them where to go to school, but he'd be surprised if they don't both end up in Austin.

'Five Star Daron Payne Likes Texas'

Charlie Strong understands to have a great defense you need great line play from the guys up front. It all starts with the defensive line and defensive tackle Daron Payne is one of the best the country has to offer in 2015. The 6-foot-3, 330-pound interior monster checks in from Irondale (AL) Shades Valley high school.

The five star tackle is not that familiar with the Longhorns but Texas does have one thing going for them, defensive line coach Chris Rumph who Payne is very familiar with.
â€I like Texas,†Daron Payne said. “I like them because of the relationship I have with coach [Chris] Rumph. I like the discipline the new coach (Charlie Strong) is instilling into the team.â€

Scout.com Take:

Payne is the man in the middle you look to build your defense around. He can really anchor the defensive line and cause teams to double-team him. He is very strong at the point of attack and he can move well side-to-side. He is more of a bull rush guy right now and can help collapse the pocket up the middle. He needs to refine his game as a pass rusher and his overall technique. A strong and big body in the middle. - Chad Simmons

Derrius Guice, APB from Baton Rouge, just released his top 5. In order, LSU, So. Miss, Texas, Georgia, Bama.

He's #6 RB in the country according to 247 composite. 5'10" 195 lb.

Not sure how So. Miss snuck in there.

I wonder what Houston's commit does to Guice's recruitment. We still have likely commit from Kirk Johnson (could end up at DB) and hopefully Chris Warren.

Big news from last night Josh Wariboko decommitted from OU. Wants to play with his younger brother. His younger brother was at our junior day. Wickline needs to go after him.

24/7 reporting DT Daylon Mack spoke with Coach Rumph today:

"He reached out to me and we chopped it up a little bit," said Mack. "I haven't met the rest of the staff yet, but Coach Rumph seemed pretty cool."
