2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

We have formally "postponed" the in-home visit Gentry until "next week."
Was originally going to be Strong and Watson on Thursday.
 Kai Locksley visits this weekend.

Blue shirt athlete– The practice of “over-signing†in the sport of NCAA Division I football has been around for a long time.  However, until recently, colleges often worked through those over-signings by convincing a high school athlete to start out at a junior college and then transfer later on, or to delay their enrollment for a semester (“gray shirtâ€).

The “blue shirt†approach is basically the same as a “gray shirt†with one very significant difference.    Whereas a gray shirt athlete is delaying their enrollment at the university until the Spring semester, a “blue shirt†will enroll in the Fall, and attend as a walk-on athlete without a scholarship for at least the first semester.

This will allow them to participate in practices, and perhaps even play in games as a true freshman, and then get a scholarship later on.  As a walk-on during at least the first semester, they will postpone counting as an “initial counter†until the following academic year.  In addition, if they come in as a non-recruited walk-on, this may present some advantages as well if they will be receiving non-athletic scholarships such as academic scholarships, or legacy scholarships.

i thought i read somewhere on 24/7 they have an in home visit tonight on locksley or did i read that wrong???

What about the possibility of playing baseball as well? Is there the possibility of being on a baseball scholarship and not counting against our football scholarships?

If we end up with no Gentry, no Murray and no Locksley, there will be some sofa-burning
thats my biggest worry right there

End up with Merrick only

Holy cow

"uh, Matt, about that, uh, ....gray-shirt, we have decided to ......"

Murray becomes 1st round pick in baseball, makes millions

Gentry wins the Heisman in two years

Locksley becomes an All-American WR

I think the baseball rule is is that he can, of course, go straight from high school, but once he sits for a college class, he is there for 3 years (at least).  Or, until he turns 21, whichever occurs first.

The JUCO rule for baseball is different but not in play here

I'm getting a twinge in my gut over possibly losing Gentry. Kind of like the guy.

Perhaps Murray did us no favors after all with his looming potential as a Horn.

But then again, Harbaugh getting hired recently might have changed it anyhow no matter who else was potentially coming on board.

Wonder what Gentry has wanted to do all along? Man, these things change awfully quick after the holidays.

Would have been nice to have Swoopes, Heard, Gentry, Murray... four to compete, and stay.

tOSU ended up with three outstanding quarterbacks. It can be done. Where the 3rd guy can be just as big a winner when called upon.

A big stakes card game the next few days, on into the following week.

Hill and Boyd not only taking OVs to aggy together

But will also OV to Bama together the following weekend

Tennessee had to pull its offer from 4-star DE Marques Ford because of numbers

Pretty crappy thing to do

Alabama needs more 4-star DBs?
It's ridiculous

Bama already has 7 committed 2015 DBs (including 2 five-star CBs).  They also took 3 in 2014 (again, including 2 five-star CBs).  In addition, Bama's depth chart shows the starters as a Jr (backed up by a soph and a Jr.) and a Soph (backed up by 5-star 2014 Tony Brown)
