2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

Honestly, I don't think ATM did what everybody thought they would do and beat a WVU team without their 1st QB by at least 2 TDs. In addition, they embarrassed themselves on national TV with multiple PF penalties (one with ejection) and had an assistant give the university a black eye in the process. Futhermore, Kyle Allen looked pretty darn good out there and that has to make Murray take notice. He may not play for at least 3 years. Congrats on the win ATM.

good point on Kyle Allen...that could indeed help us with Murray.

Plus the kid from Southlake.
Are we still after the Denton Guyer 2016 kid? His name was all the rage months ago. Of course this is the 2015 "soon to be defunct" recruiting thread, not the 2016 hopefully "soon to be created" recruiting thread.

If you're an offensive recruit, are you encouraged or discouraged by the way Texas has played this season? Early playing time is a plus.

Of course playing time this season has meant running for your life on offense and watching your QB get sacked or turn the ball over. I see no offensive identity, and get tired of blaming the personnel all the time. If Watson is that good of a QB whisperer he should have had some plays to integrate Heard in to the game planning early this season.

I can't help but wonder if Strong made the decision that this year was going to be a year to clean house, build up redshirt depth and not unnecessarily burn Heard's shirt in a year like this.  Psychologically this may have been a good move as well. If Heard can take over during the offseason, he won't have a season full of being sacked and chased around because our OL is so bad.  I am probably reading way too much into this though...and I fully realize it.

Good take, always lookingFor the instant gratification though! Rushing Heard into action probably would have stunted him, and the outcome for the season most likely would not have been much different. However, a one to two game increase in wins is fairly significant overall.

From a Texas perspective, you hope they think they can come in and play today but in reality they are all at all star games and watching with other teams commits that are, rightfully, laughing at what Texas did tonight. 59 yards on 43? plays. You are telling me Lodge wants to come here? Warren and Newsome might be rethinking this.

Take your burnt orange glasses off and look from an outside perspective tonight and you'll see that the coaching have a lot of ground to make up in the next few weeks. Not saying we won't get many good players but Texas and the Big 12 looked like the worst conference today.

Lodge & Newsome are sitting next to some Ole Miss commit and he is telling him, you want to go play in that shit. SEC and its recruits will be gloating about this all week And the sad part is they are right.

Or they may be thinking there's opportunity to come in and play right away. They may say "that team needs me." They may laugh a moment or two, but both Texas and Charlie Strong command enough respect for most to know this is the calm before the storm.

Exactly.  Everything that AtM has been selling to defensive recruits is what we offer to offensive recruits.  Charlie said as much in the press conference when he said there were no playmakers out there.

If you were Chris Warren why wouldn't you want to come to Texas and carry the ball 30 times a game as a freshman?

The real question is what do this years offensive recruits (skill players) think of Jerrod Heard?

Texas desperately needs a QB commit who is ready to play.  Even if Jerrod is starting we need either Gentry or a Juco/Grad transfer who is ready to come in and play.

Lets hoe there were some high school/Juco QB's watching that game and thinking to themselves that they'd have the opportunity to come in and start from Day 1.

On the QB front, here are two possible JUCOs (posted earlier)

IT says we may be interested in JUCO QB Max Staver of Tyler JC

Staver signed with Florida in 2013, but then went to East Mississippi CC

Coaches Watson (Louisville) and Koenning (MSU) both offered him out of high school

IT also says JUCO Daniel Fitzwater is another possible option at QB

Another possible QB recruit is 4-star, current FSU commit Kai Locksley (also posted earlier)

http://247sports.com/Player/Kai-Locksley-22483?sport=Football

Locksley said Strong is the coach he speaks with the most.

This despite being committed to FSU for many months.

Doesnt that seem a little odd to you?

All those QBs to FSU never made sense to me and I always figured one would end up backing out for greener pastures.  Maybe this is the one?
