2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

"The aggy picnic was apparently arranged solely to keep Daylon Mack from visiting Austin."

That's not true. Daylon arranged it himself so he could be on campus during James lockharts visit.

I didn't post that, but still it's pretty hilarious that Aggys created a picnic after Texas started getting some big name recruits committed to the camp. If you don't think A&M had a hand in the picnic in order to take away some steam from the Under the Lights Camp I really don't know what to say.

maybe so. i know LSU does this kind of stuff all the time.

but this "picnic" at first was originally just lockhart being on campus for his official visit. then daylon decided to come, then other commits decided to come down too.

i dont know that anyone at our event would have been a "no brainer" to attend yours. fairly sure kris boyd will still make yours (he would be the only one that i think we'd maybe try and keep from going if that was our intent)

That's interesting, seemed like a Florida State lean. I'm sure there will be some Longhorns that go off on the deep end about this, but Martin hasn't even been offered by Texas. This is why I'm liking Strong as a recruiter. This is a player Strong probably could have got a commit from but doesn't think he fits the system at RB (from what I've read Strong thinks Kam is too small and hence why he wants him as a DB). One thing is for sure Strong is a completely different recruiter than Mack, which isn't a bad thing. We won't be getting as many early commits, but we also won't be getting players we don't want/shouldn't take at the end of the process.

I will say we are getting a general look into the type of RBs we will probably have on campus with Strong. Strong is recruiting bigger more physical backs. Nick Broussete, Chris Warren, and Tristian Houston are the molds he seems to be going after. I think Martin may eventually be offered at DB, but think he's undersized in terms of Strong's system. That could change if Martin puts on about 30 pounds.

Former Baylor commit John Humphrey

Interesting in that we have not offered

247 has been talking about a mystery recruit for a while that plays high school ball in Texas, is committed to an in state school, his Texas offer has never been public knowledge, and might possibly flip to UT this weekend.

I think it's Humphrey. 247 says we haven't offered. He's no longer committed to Baylor, but that decommitment came after this rumor started I believe. The way he's talked about Texas makes me think he's a Texas lean. Interesting that he put us in the top 5, which is why I think he's this mystery recruit. I think Humphrey has an offer it just hasn't been made public yet. Just a guess on my part though.

You guys are going to like this post.

Rumblings of Malik Jefferson having Texas in the lead and openly recruiting for Texas....

From the aggy247 chat today:

Taylor Hamm said...

"Alright, this will get the attention I'm sure it deserves since I'll be candid. The recent surge of smoke surrounding Jefferson and Texas definitely has some legs. I actually spoke to two college coaches, not A&M's, who know the Dallas area very well and have connections down there who feel Texas is the leader right now. Some of that news shared to me actually matched up with what Jefferson told Jordan Davis last night, who was also Jefferson's roommate at The Opening. Here's the thing, Jefferson's main concern about A&M, which I won't release, probably won't be an issue after the season. And just to clarify, those coaches feel that A&M is where he ultimately ends up but also feel Texas is in position to steal a big one.

I know I said there was some "buzz" from The Opening about his top three. That was from Damarkus Lodge and he apparently was mistaken. I didn't want to put his name on it at first so I apologize for the confusion.

A&M must show improvement on defense and Snyder must show Jefferson that he can become a better football player at Texas A&M."

Updated list --  "Under the Lights"
A handful of these names are only possibles, but the bulk are going to make it
It is going to be quite the weekend
(Malik Jefferson looks unlikely)

Not UT related but it's been a very good past few days for Alabama. Picked up 3 high 4 star recruits in the 2016 class. All 3 have a good chance of being 5 stars come their senior year. Not good for Aggy.

aggie only compares their recruiting to The University so they can claim state recruiting titles. What Bama & LSU does is immaterial.  Whoop!

2016 WR Reggie Hemphill (Manvel):

“I really like the new staff. They are probably the most chill coaching staff that I have met. I’m just taking it slow this time because last time it showed me how much can happen in so little time so I’m being careful in my decision. “I like Texas. Something always just keeps pulling me back to Texas. I think it is just the tradition and the vibe they set,†he said. “Everything has changed. It’s overwhelming. Like I said, sometimes (recruiting) just leaves me speechless.
