2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

I suspect Juans' eyeballs & typing fingers are pretty tired....he, SHA and a couple of other posters are going to need a long vacation after NSD!

Per Orangebloods - Soso Jamabo is bringing the whole family with him to Texas this weekend.

Doubt he skips it like he did Aggy. Looks like it's down to Texas and UCLA and I have to believe Mom would rather he stay close. Here's hoping the excitement of today carries through to Newsomes announcement on Friday and then onto Soso's visit.

That is huge.  He is an interesting guy.  Does not say much about recruiting ever, so has been hard to read.

But this development says more than words perhaps.

The most recent string of CB predictions have almost all been UCLA (he OVd there in Oct).  But its been two weeks since the latest.

We have had more than a few Ã¼ber-talented offensive players over the years who, I thought, we did not take full advantage of.  Daje is probably the most recent example.  If I were Soso, I would be asking about his.  How will you use me? How will you take advantage of my skillset?  Where do I fit into this offense?  What is this offense even about?

He is a good basketball player too

good morning juan how are you?
Sleep well last night, thanks

lol nice pic lol i slept well too..to be honest with you last night in here i tell ya..i normally never follow longhorn recruiting until now..because i never got invested into the time and didnt have any interest in it until now...so these next few days im nervous as heck with all of whats transpiring

How did Jay Norvell talk JUCO WR Dominique Reed into taking an OV to Texas?

Reed said, "He said they've decided to spread the ball out.  I'm a receiver, so of course I love to hear that."

Burton has been beating that drum for a while.  It doesn't mean they are going Air Raid - but from everything Burton has heard Strong understands they need to implement elements to better incorporate the talent they have on campus and in the state - and he has conveyed that message to the offensive staff, through words and action..

I knew you had to have Texas ties from somewhere

So you probably are good friends with the Boyds then?  Since everyone knows everyone, right?

what about lampkin and strickland?

With all that has been transpiring over the last few days, can someone post an update of where we are sitting numbers wise?  I mean, it seems like there are a lot of interested guys out there right now and we may be back to having to play the numbers game again.  Thanks.

We have 23 players committed (not including Merrick) for 31 scholarships.  If Davis flips to Auburn as expected that will give us 22 committed and 9 open spots.

Players we're still recruiting:

Kris Boyd

Holton Hill

Xavier Lewis

Sheldrick Redwine

Deandre Baker

Daylon Mack

Kevin Scott

Carlos Strickland

Damarkus Lodge

John Burt

Dominique Reed

Ryan Newsome

Drew Richmond

Sam Awolope

Soso Jamabo

Chris Warren

Nick Brossette

Camrin Knight

Kyler Murray

Kai Locksley

Off the top of my head thats all I can think of - who did I miss?

CB Deandre Baker of Miami is one of the uncommitted OVs this weekend.  His height listing varies from 5'10 to 6'0 (HUDL says 6'0)

With Davante Davis wanting to join Tim Irvin at Auburn, Baker becomes an important visit.

He is currently a "sift verbal commit" to Georgia

Word is that his dad loves him some Charlie Strong, and Vance Bedford has been recruiting Deandre since Louisville.

He also runs track -- was all-state in FLA track.  Ran a 21.65 in the 200, and a 48.07 in the 400.

"A natural man-coverage defender, Baker has great reactions to the ball in the air and is an adept tackler as well.  However, poor ball skills and less-than-elite hold Baker back from being the kind of player who could start from day one at the college level."

His HUDL film  is called the "No Fly Zone" http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3029738/highlights/67328375

Here is Baker covering highly ranked WR Van Jefferson

Wow - long ways from Gilmer.

Where are you in Newfoundland? I have a customer in Gander. Assuming I keep them this year, I will probably visit Spring/Summer.

We have in-home visit with QB Kai Locksley tonight.
We were supposed to be there Monday but there were airplane issues
