Courtney Hawkins was drafted by the Chicago White Sox with the 13th over all pick in the 1st round.

Texas have two recruits get drafted and they were the last two of the Day 1 draft.

Steve Bean goes 59th overall to the Cardinals

RHP Tyler Gonzales goes 60th overall to the Blue Jays to end Day 1.

djbfootball, thanks for the draft updates. I appreciate it tremendously! Would be interested in hearing your thoughts on how any of this will impact the Team's chances of retaining any of these guys?

THANK GOD. I thought he was on the fence. Glad to see he is committed to the Horns.

Steve Bean and Wyatt Mathisen have agreed to terms with their respective teams!

The Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed to terms with second round pick Wyatt Mathisen, Pirates Prospects has learned. Mathisen, a prep catcher, had a commitment to the University of Texas. However, he will be turning that down to start his pro career with the Pirates. He’s expected to be part of the growing list of names who will report to Bradenton on Monday to officially sign.

What is Texas going to do about a catcher? Do they go after a young man that is committed to a Jr. College?

I think Augie needs to go after JUCO players when it makes sense. Next season the team should be a lot better but we lost a lot of guys to the pros this year. Worry time?

Some of these kids that were drafted had their stock take off during their senior year. Steve Bean, Spencer Edwards, Austin Dean, and Wyatt Mathisen.

I knew that Hawkins were not going to make it to campus, now I am sweating CJ's decision.

Texas needs to hurry up and make a decision on the next hitting coach so that him and Skip can get out there and recruit.

Thanks for the info buddy. Nice to have good baseball coverage on the boards.

I hate to see Texas lose some big bats from the class, but it appears the CJ will be here.

maybe sooner than later.
