Watching this on LHN and damn, we balled our asses off. The defense was tenacious as hell and VY made it look effortless. Those were the days.....

Fo sho....That team went thru..Mich,Ohio St.,Okla.. And showed heart vs. Okla st.& Kans...by the time we saw USC...no one could be us..Best team in the 2000s..put them vs. any team in that era...We beat them hands down...Hook em!!!

Watching those games reminds me of one real shortcoming of today' Longhorns. Where the hell is our tight ends? David Thomas made play after big play. Now I bet half the people who watch now can't even name our starting tight end.

This Bama vs. ND game was being touted as "the matchup of all time." I call horse shit. They said the same thing about the '05 National Championship game. USC was supposed to roll us. The VY era at Texas was nasty to competitors. He made winning look easy.

And HELL YES we need some damn tight ends. Thomas, Finley... PAt Fitgerald was making one-handed grabs when I was at UT. Where's the effing TIGHT ENDS???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

We dont need tight ends...all I can say is.. James Brown,Major Applewhite,Vince Young, Colt McCoy...all had the it...IT....Lead by example..Im looking for Jalen Overstreet to make Applewhite play him next year..by example in the spring game...YESSIR

Hot damn you are correct - I would very much like to see Overstreet take the field, kick some ass and for the coaches to say: Holy shit we should have strated you all along. Dude's a man.

He is Bro. He must have worked hard he looks in great shape..weights and all..I havent seen him run yet but, for Major to go to him before the bowl game..he must have a arm on him too..

Hope you are right. Either they thought JO was the most viable backup or they felt his redshirt was "burnable" first.... Personally, I would start him over any backup - and I would give him a shot at winning the starting job against Ash.

Problem now is Ash is the starter heading into next season. Don't know if there is a possibility of that changing...

Your right...Mack Brown has done it tricky sometimes(John Chiles QB turn WR..) I know Ash is the guy, but he will slip early or get pulled. He is the same QB mentally he has been you can see it. You cant coach a player to take over a game. The player just wants it.He dosent embrace the struggle of the game. He just plays QB. Manage the game not take over a game. I just have a feeling that it will be a thing like Chance Mock and Vince Young. And it happens before or during the Oklahoma game. We beat Oklahoma when are QB runs. And I mean the QB runs the ball. not a play call run. but with there is nothing there..6yd...11yd on a scramble..and convert a 3 and 7 by picking up 12 last in the 4th.(James Brown,McCoy,Young, even Street.) Thats Texas Football. Applewhite too..not as much( Heisman winner 1998..#34) With tempo that will kill. And I might be wrong Ash takes us to a BCS and Brown and Gray rush for 1,000 yds(Looking like Alabama a lil) But just watch Jalen shows he dosent want to play any other position then QB..that enough to push Ash to get better or give up his job. McCoy never pushed Ash even when he beat A&M and then Kansas. Ash was the better ATH they said. JO is a better ATH then Brewer. But who is the better ATH Ash or Overstreet? And who has IT!!!! Hook em!

Better athlete? OVERSTREET. Small town kid that can flat out play football. Texas fans are going to have to brace themselves for a "David Ash" led team next season - not that it will be a big surprise. I look for Overstreet to be the backup and Brewer to transfer. McCoy is probably done.
