20 Questions for The Crossfire

Darrell,

If the new coach turns out to not be Saban, will the selection committee push for a coach who will run a more spread type offense that matches the type of offensive players that are coming out of the state of Texas?

If it is Saban, have you heard any speculation on how long he thinks he wants to continue to coach?

How realistic is the speculation that Mack would look at coaching somewhere else? If he really doesn't want to leave, do you think this motivates him enough to go one more time at another school, or will he be happy doing spot duty on ESPN Gameday?

I would like to know as much behind the scene info as possible. Who is to blame if this doesn't happen? Brown? JJ? Powers?

And if this does go down, how it happened. Mack himself decided? Powers or Patterson told Mack?

What BMDs had a role in this?

When will Mack announce? When will Saban announce? They are both going to announce something at sometime.

What are the definite dates Mack says "Im retiring" and the official day Saban says "Hook 'Em Horns!"

Does Mack or Saban coach in any bowl this year?

How much autonomy will Steve Patterson have as the AD? Is Powers going to continue to try and throw his weight around regarding athletics?

I think you may have covered this already but what changes, if any, is ESPN willing to make in regards to the new coach and the LHN?

Since Saban has been the rumored guy for quite some time, what could/would a potential staff look like?

What improvements could we expect to see with the Football Program off the field due to the signing of Nick Saban? Beyond recruiting and on the field performance.

Is Steve Patterson looking for ways to move Texas out of the Big 12 into another conference or at least independent in football?

When does Mack announce his retirement/resignation
Ok..... I dont normally get into these sorts of things but what the heck....

I asked this elsewhere, but if the rumors of Powers retiring in a year or two anyway are true, what does he lose by simply saying no and keeping his friend as coach>?

If Saban leaves for Texas, will he be able to bring any of the Alabama recruiting class with him? Not the classy way to leave, but are there any contractual reasons or NCAA rules to keep NS away from these kids once he jumps over. If Alabama recruits de-commit voluntarily, are they fair game?

Assuming Saban is the guy, and given his age and perhaps shorter shelf life than other options, is there a plan by those in the know to set up an exit strategy with an anointed successor?

Patterson has a history of working with big money and has been suspiciously silent since he took over but my guess is that he has been very busy getting his ducks in a row. What has been the BMD's overall first impression of Patterson and is he someone they feel they can work with long term.

I'll take approximently 20 good questions for the Crossfire Report on Wednesday.
Fire away!

Darrell
McPhaul I am really disappointed in MB. It appears to me that MB is trying to show Texas how much power he has this kind of stuff helps no body.

Why is he doing this it's not healthy for the football program the players and that includes the kids he is recruiting. Thanks and keep up the good work. My friends y'all have a great week
