    Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

The selection committee has an impossible job, with every team having different schedules, and peaking at different times. There will always be difficult decisions on selection and seeding, but the more teams you have, the less it matters. 16 teams seems like a good number to me, but perhaps 24...

    Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

College football can be unpredictable., and some teams improve as the season progresses, while others don't. The obvious case was Texas last year. We didn't mske the 12 team playoffs, yet IMHO we would have had a legitimate shot, had we been included in the field.

    Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

I don't know how long before we play a BIG12 team, but the playoffs can be unpredictable (2 seasons ago we played Arizona State in the playoffs). Also I wouldn't be surprised if we schedule a BIG12 team as an OOC opponent at some point. After I posted my comment, I saw the entire statement...

    Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

Good come back. I love Sark, but imho, it's dumb for Satk to make this comment, or his comment about Ole Miss. True or not, there is absolutely no benefit to statements like that. He just gave Ole miss and all big12 teams some extra hate and motivation when we play them.

    Spring Football 2026

It does ring of deja vu, all over again. “I would play a game if I could. When you don’t have quite enough lineman, and all of a sudden you get a couple of guys hurt, how do you play? We’ll modify it, it’ll still be entertaining I think for the fans, but ideally I’d love to play a game,”...

Sark said that he changed the game to a scrimmage because he didn't have enough Olineman available.

    Non-SEC Football

You may be right, but most people would have said the same about Indiana before last year. They seem to have enough money to compete, and being in the BIG12 likely gives them an easier path to the playoffs. Don't get me wrong, leaving an empty spot in the trophy case for a natty is dumb...

2026 – Which player emerges to big time this year?

I haven't heard anything about Tyler Adkinson lately, but seems like there was lots of buzz about him potentially being a day 1 starter. Hopefully he can be another Anthony Hill type player for Texas.

Wow. The NCAA is trying to grow a spine, at least for not obeying the 2 week portal window. "Among the potential NCAA-proposed penalties include a six-game suspension for the violating team’s head coach, to include administrative, recruiting and on-field coaching duties, a multi-million dollar...

Reminds me of the Gary Patterson hire. Long time mostly successful coach with a defensive background that gets fired for not winning enough games recently. Assuming he and coach Boom can work well together, should be an awesome addition. Having a Stoops on our side is going to be weird.

Potential contract year. Hopefully he realizes his potential.

Contracts may be good, although how that would work is unclear. Currently all deals appear to be year to year, where either side can decide to move on. Are you proposing that both the schools and the athletes would sign binding multi year contracts? After the first year the contract may look...

Sankey calls for 1 time transfer rule. As a fan I would love to see this, but if an athlete can't test his value on the open market , then schools will tend to pay athletes less, which may not be fair or legal...

Obviously a meaningless list, but I'm Surprised Arch isn't on it.

    The SEC thread

Refresher on the argument he was using. "Aguilar’s argument was that his junior college seasons shouldn’t count toward his NCAA eligibility clock, as only 3 of his 7 seasons were spent at an NCAA member school." This seems like the same argument used by Diago Pavia and also somewhat similar to...

    Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

Texas cancels home and home football games against Arizona State. I will be surprised if the Notre Dame home and home happens. Unless something changes fairly soon, I'm guessing most if not all Power 4 teams will only play easy out of conference games, and that this will create problems for...

I don't really care mich either way about this case, but it makes me think. I graduated over 40 years ago, never played any college sports. Could I theoretically petition the NCAA to become eligible to play football?

    Non-SEC Football

True, and sometimes people state opinions that are just opinions, in which case being right or wrong is up for debate. Mostly on this forum those debates are friendly and respectful, which makes the space mostly pleasant.

    Non-SEC Football

It's fine to disagree, but resorting to name calling is childish, and against the spirit of this forum. Grow up dude. I wasn't even trying to answer the questions I was asking. Only suggesting that if the answers to those questions is yes, then going independent would be fine with me. The...

    Non-SEC Football

If we went independent would our schedule be as compelling? Would the school be as attractive to recruits? Would the TV money be at least as good? would our access to the playoffs be at least as good? If the answer to those questions were all yes, then IMHO the SEC wouldn't have any real...
