#1 Texas vs Miss State Game Thread

Arch played great. Too many penalties and they need to work on the defense. I will take the win and hope they will make the necessary corrections. Hook’em

I don't know, maybe we've been reading our own headlines. This was supposed to be an easy win. Granted, we left, at least two TDs on the field and possibly a third.

Did not like how they ran the ball on us. That was telling. There were times when we just couldn't stop them. Even when they have a back up freshman QB behind center.

It's hard to complain about a defense that gave up only 13 points, but I am today. We've got some issues there.

Ditto for the OL. WAY too many penalties. And we didn't seem to impose our will much at all today.

On the bright side Arch played a helluva game. Kid has really got a nice arm. Collin Simmons was either sacking a QB or being held by multiple OL. Great game for him.

Wisner played well also, don’t forget him.

Funny, after Blue’s 2nd fumble and Cook’s drop, I don’t recall seeing either on the field again. Am I wrong?

Good post. I think we can agree this was the suckiest 35-13 win we've had in a long while.
Agree, but much, much better than a 1 score hold on game against TCU and KState. Kind of shows how talented this is. All those mistakes and still a 3 TD win. Lots to clean up and learn from.

You know, I love the deep ball and Arch throws a pretty ball, but I found myself longing for the intermediate, RPO game from Quinn. It's methodical, breaks a defense down and confuses them.

Yes, cook came back and caught a contested slant for bout 15 after the miss…. Blue sat though your correct

Cook did go back in and have a nice catch on a crossing pattern but I did not see Blue again.

Two RB questions for anyone with knowledge:

Did Blue see the field after his second fumble? I don’t think he did…

Is Gibson dinged up? I saw him for a couple plays. Seemed like very limited action.

Good questions, hopefully they will all be good to go for ou.

I'd like to add another, I don't remember seeing Niblett at all. Is he dinged up as well? Hopefully, Blue. Gibson. Gardener, Wisner and even Page are all healthy for OU.

Going back to Arch's run that the $ec refs spotted at the 1 yard line. I've watched the replay several times on ESPN and it should have been either a TD or if not, spotted at the 1 or 2 inch line. How they come up with the 1 yard line is beyond me, especially since replay looked at it. Arch also scored on 2nd down yet they spotted the ball short again.

On the first TD pass to Moore, you can see the Miss ST DB has a fist full of Golden's jersey but no flag. The multiple holds on Simmons and others, the facemask being held while Moore was blocking in front of at least 2 refs. I guess I was just expecting more of the $ec refs. To me, they were no better than the average Big XII ref crew.

I was bewildered by the same thing. The refs were horrible. Many non calls against Miss St as well

This is from the Statesman. He did score on the first QB sneak, but ….

On a failed quarterback sneak in the third quarter, Sarkisian believed Manning had scored, but he got up off the ground before the officials arrived on the scene to determine whether or not he was in the end zone.
"By the time they got there, they couldn't tell whether he was in the scrum or not where he was on the field," Sarkisian said. "So I tried to explain it to him on the headset, the beauty of the headset. He almost did the same thing again, and oddly enough when the play was done, the official came to me and said 'Hey, remind Arch to stay on the ground so we can see where he's at.' So there's little things like that."

On the Arch scramble, I think it was actually his left forearm that hit the ground first and made him down. I've seen a photo that shows it pretty clearly. Not sure if that is what the replay officials saw.

Blue was sidelined after the fumbles.

Gibson is still nursing an injury, seems that they wanted to rest him and may not have used him at all had they not needed to bench Blue.

I do believe I saw Niblett out there. I think he was the deep back on the play where gibson got a rush up the middle from the FB position.

BTW, this is a great youtube channel if you ever want to quickly rewatch a game. 45ish minutes to watch all the plays.

He will also make cut ups of certain players
