*****SUPER REGIONAL GAME THREAD - TEXAS vs. #8 STANFORD*****

Yes I know Horns staff has a low era. stanfords era was much higher, did not show with starters thiers was much better. Bull pens both teams left a lot to be desired.

You proved my point on pitching staff beeing rebuilt. and guess you agreed on three positions needing higher averages.

We are proably thinking the same just wording it different.
I'm not sure I agree that the pitching staff needs to be rebuilt.

For one, we don't have nearly the info required to know that. Out of LBJ, Gordon and Witt, who returns? If 2 or 3 do, we may be set regarding weekend starters. I then named 6 bull pen arms, guys that could start on Tuesdays or could slot into the weekend rotation. Those 9 pitchers would essentially be a well rounded staff that with a year of development could perform even better than they did this year.

If we have a lot of losses out of those 9, or the staff doesn't like their developmental trajectory, we may need to bring in other arms. Some will be from the HS class, others transfer portal. We will have to see.

My guess is Whitt and LBJ return. Gordon to pros. On relievers  Tole Shaw and Hurley were consistent. Sterle had good pitches but was wild.

As you say we will see.

The kid from Round Rock....will never step on campus.

1. Do you realize we have the 8th best team ERA in the nation, 4th best if you only look at schools playing in major conferences?

- I don't disagree that bringing in as many great pitchers is ideal, I'd love to have a staff like Wake Forest, but I think people lose perspective at how effective our staff was throughout this season. Perhaps the few series or games that were blown overshadow all the good, consistent performances.

- It'll be interesting to see what happens with the pitching staff. Gordon, Witt and LBJ all have MLB draft decisions to make. Heston Tole, David Shaw and Luke Harrison (who missed the entire year) will all be coming back from injury. Charlie Hurley, Zane Morehouse and Travis Stehle were quality arms - all draft eligible but unlikely to go - that would be returning as well.

3. The NCAA is more offense friendly these days and while we had a good number of guys batting over 300, we were not a dominant offensive team. It would be nice to see us bring in/develop some more consistent hitters.
Agree with most of this. Some of our fans will never agree.

Thanks!     Can he throw strikes or wild?

Debate go to school or go pro. Easier life in school, more money right now in pro. Three years later might bemore money in school grad.
At the high end of the baseball draft, you aren't expecting to slum it in the minors for long.

And I don't think we ever get to a point where teams are able to shell out 1-2million plus for a baseball player.

Any kind of teams all sports. Agree college do not have that kind of money.
MLB teams are worth hundred of millions of dollars and players are paid based on agreements between owners and the MLB players association. Top round picks are slated for several million dollar signing bonus.

You want them to be paid less so that ownership can make even more profit?
