It did not take long for the addition of Quinn Ewers to impact Steve Sarkisian's QB room. Junior QB Casey Thompson chose to enter the transfer portal Friday afternoon after starting 10 games for Texas in 2021.

This past season, Thompson threw for 2,113 yards to go along with 24 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. Despite not opening the season as the starter, Thompson in played in each of Texas' first two games before starting the remainder of the season. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

The more I think about this, the more I don't like it as he was our best QB this past season. Next year could be a very interesting year and probably not in a good way. This coming from someone who is usually an optimistic person.

Can't say I didn't see this coming, but I do hate to see him go. When getting a QB the caliber of Ewers you do expect him to start as a RS freshman since he will only last til he's a RS soph (if he's what you thought he was) and then go pro.

I expect Card to follow suit soon.

I don't. Ewer's is not a lock to start, Ohio St. didn't think so anyway.

It's ironic that QB1 and QB2 for 2 seasons now are dual threats, in a system where a froggy running QB is not part of the scheme. That might work eventually, but that line..

Much like last year, starting game 2 will get ugly fast.

I don't think he's a lock to start either. But lets face it, there's no one in the QB room who is better. MM may be your second best option. I just have no confidence in Card.

Ohio State's QB room is very different than ours.

If Thompson wanted the starting job assured to him or to open spring practice as the favorite, then Sark made the right call in telling him neither of those things were going to happen and he would have to earn everything.

Texas just won 5 games last year. Outside of Bijan and Worthy, every single spot should be a wide open competition starting in the spring.

The Horns beat 1 ranked team last year. We both know who the QB was.

MM has got to be considered a very long shot to be in one of the top 2 spots.

Did not want to compete. Enough said.
With his stats he'll find some takers. He'll be better off in a dual threat system since his legs are his strength.

There is plenty of tape on CT11 now. He got his shot. Sucks that he had to play through injury. He still made his mark on the record books. If it was easy everybody would be doing it.

Umm, Bijan too. We have a ton of talent in the RB room.
