Exactly.  Pierce has done it at Texas in his first 2 seasons.

Augie went to Omaha just once in his first 5 seasons at UT.

Just food for thought with my analogy.  Smart has gone to a Final 4, which is pretty damn impressive, but that hasn’t helped us at all.  

Pierce has done it at Texas with the pieces of a team that 25-32 the year prior to his arrival. This guy can coach and has been successful here. Remember people wanted to run Augie out of town the first time they saw Jeff Ontiveras bunt... this team has been more snakebit than any I can remember and still can win the conference. Let’s tap the breaks on the David Pierce is Shaka Smart.

Never said he was Smart, just pointing out the criticism of both.  Not holding out for a conference championship, but a strong end to the season would be great.

What bothers me about Pierce this year is some boneheaded decisions he has made during our At Bats. Several times he has failed baseball 101. On the other hand I think he knows that and would tell you so. But he has got to change his recruiting strategy. He has to get better bats. 

And shocker Smart should have been fired two years ago.

Wow, things have changed a lot with this team. Regardless of whether we make it to post season play, I hope this team pulls together and comes out of this funk.
