I guess that is a good point SHA, it is a regular season game.

well put.

i am just starting to have a hard time watching the lack of commitment from coaches however we hold the kids to a higher standard.
And you have a good point as well, Dalton. Coaches leave for better jobs, or simply don't follow through with what they promised a kid and his parents. Its an issue thats been around a while and needs a solution.

UTfish,

good point.  But Oliver is a top 5 pick.  Say you have the opportunity to get that med job that pays 10 million this year and if you go 1 more year there’s a chance that somebody in school tackles you and you lose either the manual dexterity or mental acuity to be doctor and you are on disability for the rest of your life.
Is $10 million the going price tag for self-preservation? lol

You're effectively putting a price tag on, and creating a threshold for decent/team-like behavior with totally selfish behavior.

Somebody brought up the Marines in this thread. Marines count on each other and will not let another Marine down, no matter what benefit may await him if he puts himself first. Unit-Corps-God-Country, right? Where's the "me?" The me if found in the greater sum of "we."

I think Daniel summed it up well and included a side I hadn't considered much, though it didn't change my position.

Maryland up by 7 on Ohio St at the half.

This could make us look sorta good. lol

I’m the Marine. I just don’t believe football is war. A no show in a football game won’t cause death. That analogy doesn’t fly. I would have died for a Marine. A QB not so much.

One more note. When I was in the Marines, I loved the Horns but I served with all persuasions of people and football fans. I respected them all. Even the Aggies. College football isn’t that important.

Here’s my point about Oliver. Let’s say I’m a CPA and it’s the middle of tax season and I’m working for $75k a year. Now I get an offer for $100k but I have to take it now.  I can’t wait until tax season is over.  Do I owe it to my current firm to finish tax season or do I owe it to my family to take the new job?

What would you do?  Be honest.
You can't work for a new company and stay in your former employer's building.

Dobbins said next weeks game against Michigan is what he left Texas for.

I like our running backs and what we got coming. If a kid from Texas wants to go represent another states team and doesn’t want to be a Longhorn......I’m good with it. We’ll continue to get great RB’s.

Screw dobbins and that overrated ass buttguys team

So, WVU has officially names the Will Grier QB draw the "Horn down" play.  I just saw their coaches signal Horns down and I told my son it would be a QB draw and it was.

Dang it... was perfect Defensive play call.  McCulloch perfect spot but decide to crash inside.

I watched the replay just to see who made the mistake. My 1st thought (watching live & definitely on the replay) was we were in perfect position to stop that play. Why McCullough crashed inside is anybody's guess. It was his play to make. And he didn't...

I thought I told you guys to never show me this again. :)

No, football isn't war. But remove the war, have you changed the Marine? Is that code only active during war?

The analogy certainly does fly. And if you insist on dismissing it, then I'll simply turn to what my mother always taught me – YOU. DON'T. QUIT.
