HornSports Members Prediction Thread: OU

Hey Guys ,

Have been away and not able to post lately , but wanted to get on and give my prediction for this weekend ball game.  First everyone should understand I picked Texas to beat Maryland and we ended up getting beat. I gave no prediction against Tulsa until right before half and said Texas was going to blow them out and then we almost got beat. Since then I picked us to lose against USC and TCU and then we go and win those games. So with that information and not wanting to hex the horns I predict that OU will blow us out  of the water , we don't have a chance.  If we are able to gain one yard I will be surprised....lets see is there any other comment I can make ...just so everyone knows this kills me but if it works I will do this all the way to a bowl victory!!!!

Hmmm, I'm not sure. I want to say I've found it up there before. It's from Independence Brewing and basically Austin Amber re-canned for this time of year. If I find it in DFW, I'll let you know.
Thanks! I'd appreciate it!

The two best teams Hoe-U has played are Baylor & Army.  The two best teams we have played are USC & TCU...let that sink in.  HOOK 'EM!!! \\m//

Coach Bellard creator of the wishbone, was my 8th grade English teacher and was an assistant coach for our high school team. We exclusively ran the wishbone in middle school because of him.

He was a cool guy.

I cannot get myself to make a score prediction but the Texas front will need to get pressure on kyler quickly or he's going to tear Texas's secondary up. I do not have much confidence in Devante, Kris, or P.J. playing man to man vs. Oklahoma's wideouts. One thing I am sure of is that the OU coaching staff has seen is that our corners bite hard on the hitch routes so expect OU to have some success with double move routes. We've been burned in three games on double moves on the outside, except OU has better receivers than our previous foes, so if we bite it's going for 6. I think on the other side of the ball, our receivers should be superior to their secondary as it is the weakest unit of the OU defense.

It all starts upfront for our offense, can we move the ball on the ground, if we cannot initially, we will need to stick to it and hopefully tire out the OU front 7. We have not shown that we can get an adequate push in the front, if we go three and out too often we will lose this game.

Special teams, this maybe the difference in this game, we have a punter who is lacking confidence and a kicker who has recently struggled, can they overcome the challenges they've faced recently.

Let's see how much progress we have really made as a team, Hook 'EM

Texas needs to keep the score low. I don't think we can win in a shootout unless the D and special teams help us out.

28-27 Texas because OU sux

Been thinking a lot about this game, I bet we hold them to two touchdowns. Their Offense has not faced a single team with a defense anywhere near as good as ours.

Boyd scares me.
Boyd is the X factor here.  He will play hard but if he bites on the double then the defense will be in for a long day.

If the score gets into the 30s I have zero confidence our offense can keep up.  I really dont want to pick against the Horns and it goes against everything as fan I believe in.  So, because I have little confidence in the offense I have to pick it like this:

Horns 72 (5 Defensive TDs, 2 STs TDs, 2 Offensive TDs, and 3 Dicker FGs)

Dirt Bags 14

I won't make a pick because I figure my double anti-reverse psychology has run it's course.

I will say that the obvious strength vs strength won't determine the game, it almost never does. So look for special teams, zero u's defense or Texas' offense to make the winning play.

Except when he was the aggie coach. :)

No way am I going to pick  OU in a toss up game even if they are the favorites. Some of the reason why we can win which others have already said.

It's the most emotional game of the year. Todd Orlando is a better coach than Mike Stoops and UT has a better defense than OU.

OU hasn't played anyone this year. Florida Atlantic and Army were the warm up games and UCLA is having a bad first year under Chip Kelly. Iowa State and Baylor should finish on the bottom of the Big 12 standings. This will also be the best defense Kyle Murray has played in his OU career and the first time he's played in the RR shootout while Sam played in last year's game.

Herman has said Ingram is ready to be the feature back and Sam ran for 100 yards last year. The top UT RB was Warren who ran for 7 yards for the game Koatnay might have that on his first carry. Hopefully, that will help keep Murray's butt on the bench.

With Sam getting the ball to Collin and Lili' Jordan and Keaontay  and Sam running the ball it will be enough turn around last year's five point loss to a four point win.

Texas 35

OU  31

Oklahoma Sooners Football: Longhorns QB Sam Ehlinger at center of Texas run game

I like the sound of this.

Given how poorly OU’s defenders tackle, Herman may decide this weekend is the time to elevate Ingram to the role of feature back. A healthy Ingram playing that part would likely concern the Sooners’ coaching staff more than the alternative.

Texas 27 OU 17.  One of OU's TD's is a pick 6.  Texas defense dominates the game and Ingram has over 100 yards rushing and 34 yards receiving and a TD.
