I'm with you DMAC. I saw it coming as well. I was so disgusted I turned off the TV. The offensive line turned back into a pumpkin last night along with Beck. Mehringer probably is as much to blame as Beck because I thought the receivers did a poor job. Warehime is probably least to blame but I thought he could make chicken salad out of chicken s*it. This is so disappointing on so many levels. When will we ever feel good about a season again? 2009 was a long time ago.Yea its a shame that game seemed like 4.5 hour beatdown. Hiring Beck was questionable at the time and after last night proves he was a bad hire by our Mensa TFH. We have come full circle from losing to Maryland in the first game to finish it off by losing to Tech.
I dont understand what thi staff is doing with the rotation either. Why did Shane come in for one series? What was the purpose for it? Why are we rotating RB's every 3 plays?
I love having an arrogant head coach who was considered to be an offensive guru at tOSU and UH to now saying he cant call plays because he is not up in the box. Orlando isnt up in the box. So what good is TFH? He has to take responsibility at some point and we must hold him to it. He is a big boy and no one should feel sorry for him like most of us did "Good Guy" Charlie.
I told my wife at the start of the 4th Quarter we were going to lose. You could see it coming. Sure as shit it did. I am not sure which is more embarrassing, feeling like we turned the corner last week or losing to a crappy Tech team? Hit me with both.
Im disgusted and we deserve better than this shitshow after 4 years of proclaimed rebuilding and 8 of bad football.
I have said this many times and of course that is true but.....Ellinger is a Freshman, and he will make Freshman Mistakes! I think many of you forget that because he plays with a great deal of maturity most of the time.
I’m sorry you have an issue with me being critical. I dish it out where I feel it’s warranted. I give the takes immediately after the game because my memory is freshest at that time of what transpired so I will continue to do so.Daniel, I think you should refrain from writing these right after a game. Perhaps you intended you piece to sound amazingly critical, perhaps not, but I found it to be.

Our receivers, for the most part, play young. They play like they need more maturity and strength against college defenders so they can get separation.
I’m not sure why there was a joilbreak, but one spot in the o-line repeatedly allowed a rusher through. It’s really surprising Sam didn’t see the whole field. Right.
As for Randolph Duke, if you ignore him, he will go away.
I am as disappointed as all of you, but I like to look at things realistically. Realistically, Freshman make Freshman mistakes. Some less than others. Accept it, and don’t bitch about it unless there is a viable solution.

The freshman excuse is no longer valid past mid-season. By the last game of the season they are basically sophomores.Daniel, I think you should refrain from writing these right after a game. Perhaps you intended you piece to sound amazingly critical, perhaps not, but I found it to be.

My opinion, for what it’s worth, is his mistakes (OU, OSU, WVU, TT) are well beyond the pale of “freshman mistakes.” We all love his toughness, but the mental errors above are incredibly “Football” dumb at the high school JV level. He threw the ball out of bounds to avoid a sac on fourth down for crying out loud! You don’t expect that from a scholarship QB no matter how inexperienced. It simply represents something that is corrected or he needs to be replaced.I’m sorry you have an issue with me being critical. I dish it out where I feel it’s warranted. I give the takes immediately after the game because my memory is freshest at that time of what transpired so I will continue to do so.
I’ve watched plenty of football and seen plenty of freshmen mistakes, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t be critical of the decision making. It is what it is.
I agree. But think about this. The last four years we have started a Soph who should have been a RS Freshman, a RS Freshman, a True Freshman and then a combo of Soph/True Freshman. The QB room needs to get some experience and age in it. And if a True Freshman starts next year I'm going to lose my mind.Totally agree DMAC. Youth keeps being used as an excuse for this team year after year. Plenty of blame to be shared here, but Beck has to go imho. Sam has made some serious mistakes, but with the right coaching you are better prepared to perform and he is no more ready than he was against usc.
I gotta say the one statement post game that really took me back was when he was asked why the team played so well vs WVU only to take take a step back vs TT. His answer? "They are kids" WTF is that. Its his game plan. I lost respect for him after he said that. His arrogance along with an unwillingness to accept any blame is mind blowing. So its the kids fault they run trick plays and have a true freshmen QB throwing 47 times. What a joke!I'm obviously not as familiar with Randolph Duke as you guys are but one thing he said was on the money in my opinion, Tom needs to mature.
He has deflected all blame to the players and gives pitiful excuses for not being more involved in the offense.
A leader gives credit and takes blame. It shows a lack of self confidence when you're unwilling to follow that principle.
Protect your followers and they will protect you.
This is a great point... I watch a lot of gundy and Riley press conferences (boredom at work) and they ALWAYS accept the blame. Say there out coached etc. haven’t heard that once this year in any of the 6 times we have heard his speech.... have heard MULTIPLE times he has a true freshman QB, handing off to a true freshman RB and a true freshman TE blocking.... that does annoy meI gotta say the one statement post game that really took me back was when he was asked why the team played so well vs WVU only to take take a step back vs TT. They were outcoached and outplayed last night. Only the latter relates to kids
It does. Unfortunately, it didn't for us this year. Hearing about the potential losses of bodies with Cuney and McMillon graduating as well as Conner likely NFL-bound, we are on track to lose more players than we have currently coming in. The coaching staff really has to throw the kitchen sink at the guys that they are liking, and intensify their JUCO recruiting. Otherwise, it might not be that much better next year...Doesn’t success start with the Big Boys up front?
I just cut through the BS because that’s always been my style, Java. I like to give it to y’all straight whether it’s good, bad, or ugly. While it may seem like I was “venting” in the heat of the moment, I can tell you without question my feelings haven’t really changed since early this morning after sleeping on it.Daniel, I suggested you might want to wait because that is what I must do to say what I intend. If I post immediately after a heartbreaking loss, I tend to vent. Which is not my intent.
If you are saying what you want to say (unlike me), that’s great. I had just noticed your analysis changing, and thought that I would mention it.
I agree Sam should not have thrown the ball either time, and also agree that after starting X number of games, a qb is no longer a true Freshman. However, after being under fire most of the game, at what point does a qb begin questioning, and overthinking. Doesn’t success start with the Big Boys up front?
