Personally I prefer the average recruit score. If we were ranked by average score we are only behind Ohio State, Clemson, Alabama (which only has 2 commits so they are ranked 66 at the moment).Texas just moved up to #3 due to a Penn State decommit per 24/7:
Texas has moved up to No. 3 in the national recruiting rankings.
No, Texas didn’t land another commit. But the Longhorns did jump one spot thanks to Penn State taking a loss on the recruiting trail.
Five-star Harrison (GA) quarterback Justin Fieldsbacked out of his verbal pledge to the Nittany Lions on Tuesday night.
Fields actually holds an offer from Texas, but the Longhorns have two quarterback commits and aren’t actively pursuing him. Florida is trending on the 247Sports Crystal Ball.
Texas currently has 12 commits and has a score of 226.75. The Longhorns only sit behind Ohio State and Miami in the national rankings.
With some big targets making their decisions this summer, expect Texas to compete for the top spot before the start of its first season underTom Herman.
Good post.I said it from the get go, Herman understands this generation of athletes better than Strong and his group did. I love Strong, I think he's a good coach but he lacked the ability to market the program. Strong had excellent principles and connected with parents in a really great way. We saw a lot of success in recruiting because of that. Herman went out day one and started marketing the brand. He hired a team of industry professionals to constantly put out the kind of content that gets these kids excited. Coaches that don't keep up with that methodology will soon be left in the dust, no matter how well they coach. Herman can adapt and he can coach, two of the biggest things this program needed.
