Baylor running thread.

I really don't want to have to ban anyone or have to keep locking down threads.

Lets all take a deep breath, guys.

duke was wrong about patterson and right about perrin, herman, and horny.

horny is the message to all ut fans that the program has been handed to the money boys, and our opinions don't count one bit.  this is exactly what they wanted to do with saban at the helm, but we had a real president at that moment.

as for now, we've officially become ohio state, and horny is the exclamation point.

Been away for a couple of days and missed all this??? Dbook, SHA and NTG: Thanks for your logic and appropriate responses. Took the words out of my mouth. 👊ðŸ‘🤘

The only reason Horny is here is because of Tom Herman. Thats it. No money boys. No alumni. Just Coach Herman.

As for now, Ohio State looks pretty damned good when you standing in Austin, Texas.

Although the discussion about Casey Horny on this board is being tried in the court of public opinion rather than the court of law it basically comes down to

  • Innocent until proven guilty or
  • Guilty and sentenced because it seems logical that as a coach in his position he had to know all about it, covered it up etc, etc
The allegations and assumptions being made about Horny on this site are serious.  If he was complicit he deserves what he gets and more, but what if he was really in the dark.  If this was my brother, my son or my friend of 20 years for which all my personal knowledge had shown to be a person of character and integrity, who looked me in the eye and denied any wrongdoing, I would want to know before literally ruining this mans future.

I feel pretty confident that no matter what your opinion is about Horny, we are universally appalled and disgusted by what went on at Baylor and support swift and aggressive punishment for all of those involved. To equate having an alternate position about Horny as  somehow supporting the heinous acts at Baylor is at best intellectually dishonest.  I have been reading this board for a while and have a great deal of respect for the insight and intelligence of these members.  Debate is healthy and advantageous to us all but we can disagree without being disagreeable. Civility and respect are the cornerstones in building influence.  Just my humble opinion.

Here's a classic response over on Shaggy by RD.

lol. No one cares.

What Briles did at Baylor to win a few more football games is not seen by the UT AD, head football coach, coaching staff, or BMDs as something that is problematic, as long as the football team wins.

Face it. Those UT alumni with a social conscience, and who abhor violence against women by student athletes, have lost. The scumbags have won.

UT now has a scumbag program, a scumbag head football coach, a scumbag coaching staff and a bunch of scumbag big money donors and regents who don't care if someone else's daughter gets gang raped by the football team, as long as the football team makes it to the Chicken Sandwich Bowl.

And we have Mike Perrin, Greg Fenves, Steve Hicks, Jeff Hildebrand, Paul Foster, and Tom Herman to thank.

$#@! all of you guys. You disgust me.

"scumbag program" because we hired an assistant to the assistant coaches whose job it is to scout ourselves and opponents on film. Okay...now RD is embarrassing himself.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure UT takes rape charges very seriously. Ask Meander and Sanders. Both were expelled unjustly due to false accusations made by a phony. Just sayin'

Here's another post from RD on Shaggy.

No, I'm against the direction Herman and Perrin have decided to take the program, seemingly deciding that Texas can't get back to being a winning program unless it turns into a scumbag program.

That Herman believes he absolutely cannot move forward without people like Casey Horny on his staff says all we need to know about how Herman will run the program.

As I said, why just settle for the watered down, pissant version of Art Briles in Casey Horny if the decision has been made to run a scumbag program? Why not bring in Art Briles as AD to replace Mike Perrin and go all in on Herman's vision for the program?

I'll keep my opinion brief: Hermann says that Casey Horny was not interviewed by Pepper-Hamilton in their investigation into Baylor. So a law firm doing the investigation didn't think he knew enough to interview, and the evidence that they found never led them to interview him. Pepper Hamilton must really suck as a law firm if they didn't even bother to interview the "watered down pissant version of Art Briles".

Second, RD wants some sort of public statement from Horny, what, declaring rape is bad? QC coach is never going to be behind the mic, but Hermann did in his press conference say that they had "some hard conversations" and that they BOTH have the utmost respect for the victims of the horrible crimes (paraphrased) and Coach Herman and Perrin both made it clear that the social media shenanigans wouldn't fly at Texas.

Somehow, this has essentially lowered our program to level of Baylor in some people's eyes and makes Coach Herman, anyone associated with him, UT Football, or their supporters "rape apologists" who will essentially do anything to win football games.

Not me. Did I have questions after the hire? Hell yea I did. Have they been answered to my satisfaction? So far, yes, they have. Now I realize that's my own personal opinion and that other people may not share that. If they so passionately believe that Coach Herman is a rape apologist for hiring someone he trusts as a QC coach and that said QC coach is going to be breaking down special teams film in between ST meetings where he tells the players it's OK to rape people as long as they win... If you TRULY believe that's the case and Coach Herman is lying to all of us when he says that the hire was heavily vetted, then go ahead and disavow yourself from the University. You wouldn't want to be associated with a "scumbag program" would you?

Sorry, I lied, I didn't keep that brief. In my defense, if any of you have ever had a personal conversation with me, I'd say that was relatively brief ;)

No one on this board knows what happened behind closed doors at Baylor; however, in light of the evidence that has surfaced, we know, without argument, that a cover up of unspeakable acts occurred by certain individuals for the betterment of the football program.  Casey Horney was at the institution and once again, no one on this board knows what he really knew, or was directly or indirectly involved in the cover up.

For a big time collegiate football program, perception is as important as reality.  Coach Herman made a mistake in hiring the man, he knows it now, but realizes if he fires him immediately without clear evidence that he was involved, every decision he makes from this point forward will not only be questioned, but in a way would undermine his authority to run the program.

Lets hope he learns from this as he is a young coach and does a better job in the future.  Hook em'!!

So you're suggesting that Herman would fire Horny today, sees the whole thing as a mistake, and only because of "perception" does Herman not pull the trigger now?

Do you have ANYTHING AT ALL to back up this claim?

That appears to me to be going deep into someone's mind without having the ability to go deep into someone's mind.

I don't think it was a mistake to hire Horney. I'm no mind reader. The guy is good at what he does and he has worked at UT before so he can hit the ground running. Oh well............let's all slit our wrists rather than move on.

I do think it was a mistake to hire horny.

The reason being because of all the shit we are discussing now. I have no idea what he knew or if he knew anything.

But I am certainly ready to move on. It's a dead subject as far as I'm concerned.

I can't wait to see this team and Herman go up against USC.

Okay, at this point I think the question "Does Baylor still belong in the Big 12?" is in full play.

The tweet shared by JB is outside the scope of Baylor's ongoing rape scandal. So it's a sign that things are just out of control in a big way in Waco. And while it seems Baylor folks are starting to become alarmed, can the Big 12 afford more of this stuff dripping out every few days?

I know that would take our membership back down to 9, but I'm certain there's a school or two or three that would love to take Baylor's place.

Seriously, this is just dragging on and getting worse all the while. At what point does the conference leadership say enough is enough?
