I don't think thats the topic at hand. I merely disagree with Rivals and their rankings. Scout's stars matter more, IMO, because Scout is more accurate.

Not all five stars are accurate. Edorian McCollough anyone? Not all 3-stars will remain that way. See Colt McCoy.

I think your coaching staff has impact on how receptive we are to 3-star recruits. Wickline has made his living on converting 2 and 3 star kids into real players. So a 3-star OL doesn't bother most these days.

I've seen Okafor play many, many times. He's not a 3-star, he's a 4-star, which again brings me into agreement with Scout.

I know.  IMO, Okafor is a 4 star and Doyle is 0 star.  

I'm just talking in general about recruits we get that are 3 star.  It seems a common theme when hes a 3 star is "stars dont matter" or he is underrated. When its a 5 star, well you know.

I would still like to steal OG Owens from AL.

In general stars matter, and on average the 5-stars are better than the 3-stars.  As UT is having trouble landing the 5-stars right now, I think the trick for them is to find those 3-stars that are mislabeled 4-star guys or just starting to come into their own and who may end up as 4-star or 5-star guys once they hit their stride.  

Gary Patterson and Art Briles have succeeded by finding those hidden gems and untapped talent and by being very good at x's and o's.  The signs from Louisville and from the 2014 UT recruiting class are that Charlie Strong is a similar kind of coach but only time will tell.

I have had the pleasure of watching this young man grow over the years. I first saw him in LFA (lewisville football association) which is little league football here. When he hit his high school years, his size began catching up with his intellect. His arms are incredibly long (a great trait for an OL) and he's national honor society caliber smart.

He's got a very good build for someone just coming out of high school. Lewisville's weight program isn't bad, but it's nothing compared to what he's about to have access to. He's got room to add about 20-25 more pounds.

You all know how much I think of Buck Major in the way of raw OL talent. I'd rate Okafor right there with Major, if not a little farther along.
