Ladies & Gentlemen,

Let's discuss the upcoming UCLA series.

Games Friday-Sunday at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

UCLA (6-6) is ranked #19.

This is a winnable series. Horns will start Johnston, Culbreth and Mayes.

UCLA is coming off of a Tuesday loss to Cal State Northridge. They had previously won the Dodger Stadium College Baseball Classic, notching victories over Oklahoma, USC and Mississsippi State.

More to come, but I'm here and I'm excited for the weekend.

It's very important for a team to go on the road for a series as this can help the group bond and develop.  I think this is a winnable series as well and taking 2-3 could be just what the doctor ordered for this team.  Hook em.

Come on... You should have posted the picture that you sent me last night...

That one would have gotten everyone's attention.

After last weekend I have got to find a new beer. One that the gods will appreciate. Any thoughts?

The Baseball Gods prefer you to be happy with your choice of beer. You make the call Bear.

We're going to go ahead and make this the game thread.

There's no TV or live stream for this series. You can listen on radio via TexasSports.com

A bit about Jackie Robinson Stadium. It's a grass IF/OF, turf behind the plate.

LF/RF are 330 feet

Power alleys are 370 feet

CF is 395 feet

North is down the RF line

Weather has cleared up. A few scattered clouds in the sky right now. Wind is blowing in from RF lightly, ~8 mph, gusting to 24 mph at times. It's a Texas/LA-chilly 58 degrees

Lights are on at the field now. Final preparations being made to the chalk lines. We're about 25 mins from first pitch.

UCLA is wearing their throwback home unis tonight. White pants and jerseys, baby blue caps, stirrups, under sleeves and belts. Black spikes

Texas is wearing grays pants & jerseys, burnt orange caps, under sleeves, socks and belts. Black spikes.

Let's do this.

HookEm!

Listening to some UCLA fans around me; they are looking at our guys taking practice cuts while watching the UCLA pitcher. The common sentiment is "Dang, this team looks big and strong." Weird, considering Cal and Stanford have some monsters on their teams.

T1 cont

Mathis

Texas hitters were aggressive at the plate in the first.

Mathis got on top of that pitch and hit it right down into the beginning of the grass. Jones had a very good AB seeing a lot of pitches, fouling off several, and drawing the walk.

Let's see what Johnston can do tonight.

B1

Urabe

1-0 up/away; showed bunt

2-0 down; showed bunt again

3-0 in; Urabe shows bunt very late in Johnston's delivery

4-pitch walk. Kyle needs to settle down a bit
