National Signing Day 2016 Thread

Watched that yesterday. Primal posted it in a thread dedicated to the doc but for whatever reason, it didn't get much conversation. It's a really good video, credit to TexAgs in that regard. Really enjoyed it.

5. OU – IMO, the talent gap between Texas and OU has become obvious. Their best would be average in our last two recruiting classes. We out tough them, we out coach them, we out play them. Anyone remember what Tulsa did to OU's defense last year?

6. Iowa St – Cyclones should be an easy win.

7. @ K State – The talent gap between us is glaring. KSU once made up for this with their coaching advantage. They no longer have that.

8. Baylor – Baylor will want some payback. We won't be helpless on offense this time around and neither will they. This could be a L, but could be a W.

9. @ Tech – This game scares me. If there's a game that we've come to respect, it's Lubbock at night.

10. W Virginia – We should win this one.

11. @ Kansas – We should easily win this one.

12. TCU – One of three possible L's on this schedule, IMO. However, I think we have an advantage. We're not out-talented so much this time. We're at home. Something will be at stake.

I see 3 possible Ls on the schedule, but I don't see all three happening, but maybe two of the three.

Does anyone remember the Dallas Cowboys in 1990-91 during the Jimmy Johnson era? This was the year prior to the first Super Bowl appearance with Jimmy. Even Ditka knew after playing Dallas that something special was coming.

Thats the same feeling I have right now. We're about to witness something special. This may be that year before THE YEAR, we'll see.

I agree and cosign your Dallas Cowboys reference. Could also reference the 2004 season when we beat Michigan. And also the 2008 season where the late loss to Tech thwarted our NC appearance. At the end of both of those seasons, we knew something better was on the horizon (i.e. the NC win & the NC berth, respectively)

 
UT has to open the season at 3-2. I am a Notre Dame fan as well, and I saw someone say they aren't bringing back a lot of talent, but they are still pretty stacked and I see them finishing in the top 10. I don't think Texas has a chance unless they have good qb play. This is just such a difficult game to start the season with when there are so many questions about the offense. I think 8-4 is realistic with loses to ND, OU, BU, and TCU. I could definitely see them taking one of those and going 9-3, but I can just as well see them dropping a game to TTU or OSU and finishing 7-5 and hopefully winning a bowl game. All of the above I am cool with. If Charlie finishes 6-6 and gets blown out at a bowl though...

 
And also in regards to ND, they have 3 good qbs on the roster in Kizer, Zaire, and WImbush. Kelly came out and said they are going to redshirt Wimbush so he isn't a sophomore with Kizer, but they will have 2 borderline great qbs fighting for that start against UT. As we all know, a good qb can make all the difference, so ND would be a lot less scary if they weren't proven and deep at the position.

 
installing a new offense, with the limited practice time is what worries me about the start of the season...just afraid they might sputter a bit coming out of the gate. Hopefully the staff can keep them from cratering when they struggle. not as worried on D of course, those guys are gunna be flying out of the gate

5. OU – Win.  Strong vs Stoopes, nuff said.

6. Iowa St – Win. I feel sorry Iowa State this game.

7. @ K State – Loss.  @KState, close game but we lose.

8. Baylor – Win. Briles is our beyotch now, with Gilbert on offense, Charlie and Vance come up with another 2014 defense plan.

9. @ Tech – Win. Lets see if Mahomes flexes in the end zone again.  Doubt it. 

10. W Virginia – Win. 

11. @ Kansas – Win. 

12. TCU – Win.  Time for payback without Boykin

 
Charlie finally gets to focus more on defense.  Alot depends on Giblet with our QB but our OL/DL will be improved.

I say 8-4 most likely. I'll be satisfied as long as we do not look incompetent in any of the losses.

A 9-3 would make me happy.

We go 10-2 and I will shit a gold brick.

For this exact reason, I'm thinking 7 to 8 wins heading into the bowl game. I think we'll see progress, but there will still be some growing pains due to a new offensive system and young, developing QBs. That said, I would fully expect to fight for the conference title in 2017.
