There's absolutely no reason Augie should be fired after this year, IMO.

that developmental thing gets brought up a lot. It rings a little more hollow in 7-game losing streaks. In my opinion, the original question is ridiculous. It is reactionary to the point of being aggie-like.
Augie cares about the CWS, period. The rest of the season is developmental. To hang in the CWS, we must develop our pitching staff, and if you haven't noticed, we have a great deal of young depth. That young depth must be developed.
I am quite certain that a requirement for coaches is to tolerate
No, I didn't say that. I said the good ones are being DEVELOPED in juco. Big difference. Roger Clemons is a classic example. He couldn't break 90 mph when he went to San Jac. Wayne Graham got him close to the 90's and UT recruited him and got him into the mid 90's.So the best high schoolers are turning pro out of HS and the next best are going Juco. 😯
yeah I've hit the big time.Hey, street, gbt likes your post! You are on to something, bro...ya' gotta love it.
roger was 30+ years ago and the outlier. Most of our greatest players since came in as freshman. No, I didn't say that. I said the good ones are being DEVELOPED in juco. Big difference. It's not to say that some good players aren't going to 4 year colleges. Of course they do. It's just that a ton of players, with potential, go Juco because they don't have to stay in college for a minimum of 3 years - before turning pro.
You do know Wayne is older than Augie right and only has 1 championship right?I'm sorry to disagree but it's time for Augie to retire or Patterson to fire his old sorry butt. He was a legend before UT hired him, fine.
But what could Wayne Graham or even a young strong baseball coach have accomplished with the Texas Baseball program in the years Augie managed two championship seasons among so many other embarrassments?
I remember the days sitting in the knot hole/ wild bunch section (we didn't have to have a name) on the 3rd baseline at Disch Field watching Street and Clemmons headline Gus teams that could pitch and hit. Never mind Billy Goat Hill, the Horns had ball players!
Augie has had his moments in UT history, that's good but it's over, he needs to go on his own or Patterson needs to do his job.
Seven straight losses and counting deserves the axe.
wait...2 championships and 6 other trips to Omaha is 'so many embarrassments '? Youd fire him now? Tap the brakesI'm sorry to disagree but it's time for Augie to retire or Patterson to fire his old sorry butt. He was a legend before UT hired him, fine.

This should not be the reason Augie is fired. If you are basing decisions off a stretch of failure in one year, we will never find a coach that meets your expectations. Ups and downs are going to exist in certain years, that's the nature of the beast.Seven straight losses and counting deserves the axe.
Nothing like a win on opening day, hope truly does spring eternalScrew all this negativity. My Houston Astros are 1-0. Only fitting on the 10 year anniversary of our last pennant we get off to a good start.
Wait...what's that...it's our ONLY pennant. Whatev...we're 1-0.
And by the same token I'm doomed with my Arlington Nine.Nothing like a win on opening day, hope truly does spring eternal

while you're at it, if you could give me a semi positive outlook on the Texas Longhorns, i'd appreciate that too.gimme a mini breakdown of the Strangers, john. make it semi positive outlook if you can so i can talk to some friends of mine who are big rangers fans.
i did not like the fielder and choo hires. still don't. and profar has been a large bust IMO, but there are some newer guys and younger guys that show some promise.....right? am i missing something on fielder and choo. something about those hires just reeked of desperation and i thought daniels was above that sort of thing. The Fielder thing in particular bugs me. The guy just DOES NOT look like any kind of ball player to me. I want to find a guy with Josh Hamilton skills without the ten cent head.
the staff has been snakebit with injuries and the darvish TJ surgery is a killer, but i'd like you to paint a "glass is half full" view or best case sort of view for me so i can offer them some hope. they moved away to Idaho and don't get a daily dose of local commentary and viewpoint.
i'd also like the same for the Lastros. I actually think they're on a rise right now.
