[Duke C #11]

My last day as a federal employee. 34 years (6+ with U.S. Army and 28 with the IRS). I was going to call this thread "Merry Christmas to Me", but Jim R beat me to it.

[Matt Cotcher]

An admirable career in a hated organization. Much credit to you, my friend.

Happy retirement!

Why would anyone hate the U.S. Army?

What are your plans? Longhorn Football, Baseball, Basketball, and Track. Photography. Travel?

[SFlonghorngirl]

Congrats Duke!  Any fun plans for the near future?

[dillohorn]

Enjoy retirement. You can't beat it.

[Worster1]

Congrats and best wishes in your retirement.

My grandfather was in the Army for 27+ years (WWII & Korean war vet), retired and then went to work for the IRS. He actually had a gun pulled on him while he was a field agent in west Texas and told the guy something like "Look, you have enough troubles with your taxes, you don't need to add to them by shooting a federal employee" and the guy put the gun down.

Congrats on your retirement!

[Chitownhorn]

Merry Christmas to you Duke and enjoy your retirement.

[Shevis Irons]

Yes, Merry Christmas and thank you for your service.

Congrats Duke!  Any fun plans for the near future?

For the rest of 2014, I will stay up as late as I want every damn night. After that, my list includes cleaning the attic, re-organizing the garage, replacing the window in our upstairs bedroom, repainting said bedroom some color other than the fluorescent green my daughter painted it when it was her room and supervising the redesign of our master bath, according to the wishes of my better half. Oh yeah and a daily exercise program designed to lose 50+ lbs. in a year.
