Quick Thoughts about the Texas Basketball loss to Stanford

1. This was going to be a tough game. But it was made even worse than the Longhorns had no answer for Randle and Brown.

2. Brown and Randle made up 46 of Stanford's 74 points. You're not going to win many games giving up that many points to the opposing team's two best players.

3. The Texas defense wasn't terrible but it felt like anytime the Texas defense needed a stop, they couldn't get it. Also, they gave up way too many long 2 pointers and 3 pointers. The miscommunication on ball screens killed the Horns.

4. This loss is a stinger but it's not going to effect the Longhorns' chances of a high seed. This year is not a year of many great college basketball teams (sans Kentucky) but the Big 12 is full of good teams. 7 Big 12 teams in the AP Top 25. And the "last place" team in the league is Kansas State which still has many good players.

The Longhorns got a much needed wake up call after a few close calls. The Rice Owls should be a nice warm-up before conference play but obviously very disappointing outcome.

Thanks, Chris.

Seeing longer players hit perimeter jumpers reminded me of last year. Stanford did a nice job of not taking the ball inside and staying away from the Horns' shot blockers. Couple that with a high FGP and you're going to get tonight's result.

I think we better work on defending that driving fall away jumper. It won't go unnoticed by our opponents how poorly we defended that shot tonight.
