UT's release:

DIRECTV and The Walt Disney Company sign expansive agreement

New multi-year deal to deliver Longhorn Network to DIRECTV customers, in and out of the home

The Walt Disney Company and DIRECTV today announced a wide-ranging, multi-year distribution agreement that will provide DIRECTV customers with access to Disney’s networks including Longhorn Network, beginning sometime in January.

"As we begin 2015, the addition of DIRECTV will allow even more Longhorns fans access to Men's and Women's Basketball as they start Big 12 Conference play, as well as our spring sports,” said Steve Patterson, Texas Men’s Athletics Director. “ESPN and Longhorn Network continue to be great partners, providing unparalleled, award winning coverage of Texas Athletics programs."

The renewal agreement supports the companies’ mutual goal to deliver the best video content to customers across multiple platforms by strengthening the value of the multichannel video subscription, according to an ESPN statement.

“This new agreement brings DIRECTV’s already unmatched content offering and experience to a whole new level. It also allows both companies to evolve together into the future and gives DIRECTV customers a wide range of in-home and out-of-home viewing options to enjoy the broad collection of ESPN, Disney and ABC content,” said Dan York, Chief Content Officer at DIRECTV. “It’s an immense and exciting undertaking to work together to shape the future of content consumption and the possibilities are endless.”

DIRECTV joins a growing list of Longhorn Network distributors including AT&T U-verse, DISH, Time Warner Cable, Verizon FiOS TV, and more. DIRECTV customers will also soon be able to access Longhorn Network in and out of the home via mobile devices on the authenticated WatchESPN service, via the DIRECTV Everywhere app on iOS and Android phones and tablets, anddirectv.com

Definitely an early Christmas present. Anybody heard what packages LHN will be included?

Fantastic news. Aggie and Red Raider fans are running out of providers to threaten cancellation if they add LHN.
What network in there right mind would listen to a%m are the rr. What  I like is Texas continues to stick it to those aggy want a be. How for dose an aggy have to run to get out of the shadow of  The University Of Texas well the sec is not far enough. Last week it was announced that Texas has the #1 brand name in collage sports with 131 million in sales and now the LHN. How many more hits can the aggy take. I hope a lot more. My friends y'all have a great day.
