2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

Cherry and Hager are 100% with us, right?  According to SHA's post above, we're looking good

with Kirkland.  Landing those 3 would be tremendous, as to LB recruiting. Obviously, getting MJ

would be better than tremendous!  One can only hope...but as it stands, looking good for Charlie's

first recruiting class!
I think Kirkland will announce before December is over, even if other visits are planned. He'll cancel them, IMO. We're looking good here.

Cherry, I'd say he's a Texas commit. He's living it up with the process right now as he was married for the past 8 months. He'll bring a few with him.

That leaves us with MJ. UCLA is the new threat.

We are in the top 2 with 4-star 2015 CB Davante Davis of Miami (Booker T. Washington)

Coach Vaughn saw him last week - we are definitely looking at taller corners and he meets that (6'2,180)

His current plan is to take 3 more OVs in January and then decide

Here is a Scout piece on him

TWO SCHOOLS HAVE DAVIS' FULL ATTENTION

by Corey Bender, Florida Recruiting Analyst

Davante Davis and Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington polished off a 54-35 victory in the Class 4A State Championship over Jacksonville (Fla.) Bolles on Saturday evening, rewarding the Tornadoes with three consecutive state championships.

Davis, 6-foot-2, 180-pounds, is a lengthy and physical playmaker in the backend of the Tornadoes defense. The former Syracuse pledge put in countless hours over the offseason to help maximize his abilities and guide his teammates back to Central Florida.

"It feels great (to be a state champion) and all of the hard work paid off," Davis said. "(Our strengths were) our preparation, coaching, hard work in the spring, the will to want to win and sticking together like a family."

With his senior campaign in the books, Davis will now shift his full focus to the recruiting process. The four-star prospect on Scout has took a pair of official visits to Texas and Florida State, but mentions Florida, Georgia and Miami as possible visit destinations to round out his official visits.

Since taking over the helm in Austin, Charlie Strong and the Longhorns have been seeking out talent throughout the Sunshine State to fulfill their needs on the recruiting trail. Davis wasn't too familiar with Texas' landscape heading into his visit last month, but returned to Dade County with an open mind.

"It was pretty nice and different from Miami, very different, but it was real nice," Davis said. "Texas came to see me at the school, but he's going to come back for a home visit."

Davis, who plans on making his college decision "probably sometime next month", has a pair of co-leaders with National Signing Day two months away.

"Texas and Florida State (are my leaders)," Davis said.

These are the players who we're still after and would enroll for the coming semester:

1. Jefferson

2. Rankin

3. Hodges

4. Kirkland

5. Irvin

I'm starting to get a good feeling about this recruiting class. The staff is definitely working OT.

Daylon Mack just started following Strong and Rumph on Twitter.
This guy continues to amuse. 100% Ag with nonstop smack talk, but is trolling every major college coach in the states. Still reminds me of the Martellus Bennett recruiting circus of years ago. I hope this kid makes a good decision for him (preferably not Aggie!) and is successful in the future. He seems to enjoy the spotlight, time will tell if he has the moxie to bring it on game day.

I don't think he has a clue where he's going. He pretty much gave Hamm an ultimatum on the DC's he wanted, and those seem far fetched. There's no reason he shouldn't be looking into other schools IMO, as he has no clue who the next DC is going to be. If A&M ends up making a meh hire like Gibbs, Mack better have options available (granted he probably would regardless).

Agree, with the changes in aggie land he should be looking at all of his options. However, it seems that he opened this up quite awhile ago with LSU talk and visits prior to firing the DC in coll station. Keep those ags sweating!
What was so great about the canned aggie DC anyways? Did he ever coach a decent defense for aggie? What has the draw been to this guy from recruits? Not familiar with him obviously!
