Bellarmine 70 yd TD run

well, i pouted most of the night, but yeah, Boerne got thumped. it was tough watching my son and the other SRs who he's been thru so much with, walk off the field for the last time.

Boerne HS ain't exactly odessa permian when it comes to football tradition, so we're proud of our 8-2 season (following 2-8) even if it ended in Rd 1.

on a self serving note, this is my last Friday Night Lights as a father. 3 boys, all played varsity football. all better for it. nobody hurt. gonna miss the hell out of it come next fall.

Still 6-14 Bellarmine leads Camas after 1Q

Camas in unfamiliar territory down 6-17 at half

14-20 Bellarmine leads. 1:08 3Q

Camas O finally shows a bit of life

Camas did not show up to play on Offense tonight.

13-20, Bellarmine ball under 2 to go.

Looks like Camas will be sitting at home.

Big time upset.

Great season but you just can't fall asleep in the playoffs.

Texas target Holton Hill's (Houston Lamar) stat line from his playoff game:

1 Fumble Recovery

2 Interceptions

1 89-yd Punt Return for Touchdown

9 tackles

Not a bad night at all.

Sorry for the short info last night on the Camas game.  A couple of notes from the game.

The offense, after breaking off an 80 yd TD run in the 1st Quarter on their 2nd possession, inexplicably went AWAY from the running game.  After that run, the team had 14 carries for 53 yds for the remainder of the game.  The Bellarmine game plan was to send all kinds of blitz packages at our QB.  It worked.  They had 7 sacks.  Our QB was hesitating all night on his reads, and did not check down as often as I'd like.  Our stud TE was targeted 3 times, and finished with 1 catch for 9 yards.  Our #1 WR was double and triple covered most of the night, and had 8 catches for 106 yds.  Only 3 other players caught the remaining 8 completions.

On a different note, I was told that on Thursday, the team was told that ESPN had sent word that if Camas won state, ESPN would pay for the Camas team to go to Florida in December, sometime after Christmas, to play in a big football exhibition against top teams in FL, TX, OH, CA, etc.  I think this coupled with the team looking past Bellarmine, (who we beat 49-21 last year in playoffs,) to a potential matchup against #1 ranked Bothell next week was a recipe for disaster.

10-1 for this team that was written off by many prior to the season due to the loss of seniors from last year's state finalist team is pretty impressive.  Next season should be interesting due to the kids coming back.

Thanks to HS for letting me put the Camas Papermakers updates in the HS Football threads.  Appreciate it, and hopefully we'll see a solid effort next season.

What would it take to get a Camas sweatshirt or cap?
