Vance Bedford on alternate uniforms

"It's nothing personal. I just don't need all that stuff. I'm just an old school guy. I'm not a young guy that needs all that stuff to say, 'Yeah, this is who I am.'"..

Thats right Bedford. YOU and I are old school...BUT you are recruiting YOUNG guys WHO THINK THEY NEED ALL THAT STUFF !!!!!!.......So it doesn't matter what WE think. We need to get off our high  horse and start doing what it takes to get great talent in here so you and Strong can keep your job and we as fans can show up at DKR seeing victories.

Even USC and ND see they need to get with every other program to get these elite players, so we need to get our head out of our a** and start throwing on a trendy uni once in a while. DO I like it ? Heck no, but I'm old school.
Disagree with you.  Prove it, please give examples on top recruits either eliminating UT or choosing another school because we haven't worn alternative uniforms. I believe most recruits want to go to a school where they can win, possibly develop into a NFL player, and get a good education. That's what is going to bring in great players not  alternative uniforms.

I'm pretty sure West Virgina will have a lot more to do with keeping our defense focused than this non-story. National crap storm? Really?

Recruiting purposes does not just apply to landing someone...the recruiting process like most things isnt cut in dry...I have been on a recruiting visit when a school switched up the unis before, and I have been chaperon for recruits that were visiting, and I can tell you that there is just a little more buzz....is it the end all be on...nahhh, but no one is saying that...but to be clear.. the a recruit never pick a school because a uniform line (which I am certain is probably not true) and the tradition platform can both be disputed....as I have always said it's a matter of taste. It's usually the guys who treat the word "swag" like an offensive four letter word..

Texas road whites are a beauty..

The homes are awesome...

Something diff once in a while would be pretty neat...that's all I am saying.

Let me first say that this is not directed at you JB in any form, but towards the crutch of tradition..

I don't like this argument at all

Oregon does actually have a pretty decent football tradition...

And at what point does their current winning tradition come in to play? That is to say their uniforms may be a gimmick( i tend to lean toward niche) but their winning isnt...I'd take on a gimmick or two to win..

People also are very quick to mention Oregon as if that is what the supporters of alt unis want to become..Michigan, Bama, Notre Dame, USC..all as storied...all have done a once a year alt..and yeah it's for recruiting reasons...Yeah I know "if unis matter to the kid, I don't want him...blah blah.." Kids/youngmen/whatever like them...not sure why, but hey they do. When I was that age playing college football and we'd get a uni...it pumped us up..dumb, maybe.

This topic annoys me...because the minute anyone mentions that they would like an alternative uniform, or even has the thought that it would be cool they're hunted down and shot by the traditional police....THINGS CHANGE..PEOPLE CHANGE...TRADITIONS EVOLVE

I just think it's polite excuse peple use for saying..." no, I like it better this way...and you might be an idiot for wanting change"
To each his own, but I'm not going to call anyone an idiot because I disagree with their take on something as trivial as football uniforms.

We all have an opinion on this topic and I can see both sides of the argument.  IMO, our traditional look is best - there's no right or wrong answer.  I was a kid once, too, and always enjoyed getting new uniforms.  Never any chrome helmets or facemasks, but those weren't around then.

My tastes - and I've speculated that the majority of Texas alumni and fans - are more conservative.  I prefer the traditional uniform. I don't think that makes me an idiot, either.
