Aggy vs Arkansas

fine. the whole 'aggy isn't that good' argument when we're what we are is just kinda desperate.

if aggy went 0-12 we're still who we are, who gives a shit?

You can't have an opinion about another team until Texas is good? Did I click OB by mistake? lol

I'm not trying at all. I'm observing. And I've observed your beloved Tech almost lose to UTEP. Yea, big statement that was. LOL

Tech played Arkie in JerryWorld, not Lubbock, FYI.

Did those 49 points do anything to help Arkiesaw against Aggy?

Kansas will beat Tech, the team you're using to compare. LOL
beloved tech? what?

like your posts SHA but really not sure what your point is here. you started by comparing ark and ku's records last year. it doesn't matter. and declaring a ku win over tech is hugely speculative.

any LOLs left for me?

The whole point is that aggy is doing a damned lot better than everyone predicted before the season. First they were going to get blown out by SC...but they didn't. Then they were going to lose not less than 1 out of the next 4 ...but they didn't. They're now 5-0, ranked well into the top 10, kicking ass in recruiting and playing one hell of an exciting brand of football.

And yes I'm well aware that 3 of those victories were pretty much like them playing a high school. Yet Baylor played an even easier schedule and everyone oohs and aahs about what a great team they have and speculates about how bad they're going to kick our ass.;

I hate the aggy bastards as much as anyone on this board...but if you want to turn that around..quit acting like it doesn't exist and start figuring out a way to stop it.

The only game they won that I thought they might lose was SCarolina. But even I was guilty of overrating SC. No QB. Tons of losses on defense. Like Grande said above, they lost at home tonight to Mizzou.

The rest of that 5-0 is such a joke that I'd just smile and walk away at the one who thought aggy would drop one of them.

They beat Lamar, Rice and a SMU team that was arse raped by North Texas. North Texas.

And then there's Arkiesaw, picked dead last in aggy's division. They win by a TD, late, to pull it out. Perhaps you find the game exciting. But should it have been? Would we look better if we had beaten KU by two in a shootout?

Sorry, wasn't one of those oohing and aaahing over Baylor. I don't write that game off at all.

I'd say aggy is closer to Arkiesaw's cellar spot than they are to Bama's top spot. Aggy could lose 6 of their last 7.

You can LOL whenever you like.

In my conversation, I was criticized for comparing the two programs.

2013 is the most recently completed season. What are you going to do? Base it on spring training? What else is there? Beating the likes of Nicholls State?

Kansas played pretty decent defense today. Did you see the game? Tech doesn't play defense. They almost won the heisman for UTEP's TB. KU by two touchdowns.

I agree with much of what you are saying. I'm just not sure how discussing other teams has any impact on the Longhorns. We aren't the coaches or players. All we are doing is discussing Aggy football as we do other teams on here. We've also had discussions about South Carolina, Tech, and Iowa State in terms of their schedule.

Like SirHornsalot stated, I'm not sure why we can't have an opinion about other teams simply because Texas is struggling. I'm not diminishing anything aggy has done, simply stating a fact that they've played an atrocious schedule so far.

utisda..........you are 100% right when you say that "we" (meaning all of us arm chair QBs that sit back and read and write this crap every day) can't do a damn thing about what aggy does or doesn't do..............nor can we do much about how the Horns play next Sat. This is all for entertainment and no real need to lose any sleep over it. We can't do a damned thing to control any of it.

All we can do is just read and write for the fun of it. The people that can DO something are very few and very far between.

i don't give a shit who wins ku v tech. let me know the outcome whenever they play.

your premise earlier was dogging an aggy for their win v ark and implying our win v ku was similar.

two points....i don't give a crap about aggy v arky and our win was less than inspirational today. if you disagree with either, fine.

I personally don't really care what aggy does or doesn't do.  (Caveat: I would not like to see them win a nat'l championship.)

Otherwise, they're a zit.

They're not in our conference, we don't play them, and other than having their compound a few hours SE of Austin, they've abandoned the state of Texas by bolting to the SEC.

Some will say, "they're recruiting the heck out of Texas."  Yeah, so are many other teams.  It's one of the top 2 or 3 states in HS athletes in the country.  Big deal.  They're on a roll at this point, but as pringle said, there's absolutely nothing that "we" can do abou it.

College football is cyclical.  Texas has been on top, and has also been near the bottom.  Same with Alabama, USC, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Florida, Florida State, etc.

If everyone can just manage to get through the new regime's process of building, then things will cycle back around.

Relax, quit worrying about the damn ags, and just wait and see what Strong puts in place before jumping face-first off the window sill onto the driveway.

Realistically, I'm not sure we're going to know much of anything about these major conference teams until about 4 games into the conference schedule. Fact of the matter is that A&M had no business winning that game, but that happens throughout college football 3-4 times a week with a ranked team. Survive and advance is the moniker in conference play, a win is a win. Learn from it, move on, and live to fight another day. Schedule doesn't get any easier so there isn't any point in looking back. As has been mentioned in the past, there is a tremendous amount of parity amongst the college football ranks this year through the first 3rd, I don't expect any team to be left standing without a loss by the end of all of this.

Uh, no, I was talking with a Horn and said as much in my original post. I try not to talk to aggy about football. It just doesn't end well.

Offensively, less than inspirational is about right. However, this is hardly the first time we've walked into Kansas and played down to their level. Vince will tell you that much.

Defensively, I don't have much to complain about. A shutout in their house is something I'll feel good about any time I can get it.

Refreshing to read an aggie with perspective.

I don't see any "great" CFB teams this year...yet.  All have flaws.  FSU let unheralded NC State hang 41 on them yesterday.  Egad.  OU and Bama appear to have the best shots, but Baylor and Oregon can also surprise if their defenses improve.

A&M's offense is good and the defense appears to be improved, but I don't know if it holds up against the better teams - on the road - in the SEC West; Auburn, Bama, and now Miss State.  Tough to lose 4 projected starters to felonious activities and be "better".

I saw this posted on Shaggy and thought it was on the money.

"I compiled W-L records of Big 12 teams and last week's top 10 teams through yesterday's games.

Big 12 opposition's composite W-L record is 91-66, a winning percentage of .579, which is pretty decent. Hurt a good bit by OU and Baylor, whose opponents are a combined 13-23.

Composite opponent record for all teams in the top 10 is 88-90. FSU (10-7), Oregon (10-8), UCLA (10-7) and Michigan St. (11-6) are the only four teams in the top 10 with opponent records above .500.

SEC top 10 teams have played teams with a combined record of 27-31 and none (see above) have opponents with records above .500.

So this pretty much supports the common-sense notion that you would need an entire layer of cupcakes below the normal level of cupcakes that P5 conferences play to support a composite P5 average of 10-2 that the Longhorns' opposition had (now 12-4, or .750, including the two losses Texas added). The W-L percentage for all college football games is going to be .500. We can't change that. Records above that are good. The farther above, the better. That's obvious.

More importantly, this points out the complete absurdity of college football and its so-called "playoff." The current playoff doesn't change anything. The top 10 is still going to be a bunch of folks whose creampuff nonconference schedules support the preseason assumptions of their superiority. They'll all have one or two or maybe three big games, and they'll win them at about a .500 clip.

Statistically, it doesn't take much for the 14-team SEC to start with eight teams ranked and finish with eight teams ranked when they play a schedule of one-third cupcakes and two-thirds each other. They simply leapfrog each other, as three or four of them are going to win two or three of their big games, making those teams look like they were as good as everyone assumed them ALL to be.

Division 1 football sucks. Worst setup in all of sports. Sixteen-team playoff means all the top ranked teams have to survive a real gauntlet at the end and would give a true champion. Now, it's just an SEC crapshoot."

Byrne was squarely against the SEC move from the get-go and was one of the primary organizers of the Pac-12 move. Decisions any time near or after the SEC move were not made in recommendation of Byrne, he was a paperweight as AD by that point.
