Horn Sports Vision, Update

FOD (Friend of Darrell) says, IDMAS what happened in the past. Water under the bridge. What matters now is how this thing looks moving forward. Business plans change all the time. Sometimes for the good, sometimes not. The great thing about owning a business is that you don't have to be glued to a single philosophy when you've changed it. You can always adjust it later if things need to be tweaked.
Agree completely, but still believe in open and timely communication. I am not on this board just for one component, but for the entirety of the site (especially the community of great folks). Thanks to all of the members and HS staff for all that you do and looking forward to moving forward to the season.

Well no more Crossfire, that totally sucks.   I signed on for a year subscription, so I'm not bailing yet.   Good thing football is around the corner, so you guys are on the clock!
Am very glad I just did month to month, Mod's I sent you an email yesterday in regards to my premium sub. Please give it your prompt attention.

Best of luck to you guys going forward.

HookEm.

What did Darrell Royal say?

The sun don't shine on the same ole dogs ass everyday?

I have been fortunate to have been a contributor on the Hornsports staff since I accepted the invitation last October.

Thank you Aaron Carrara & Mike Barnes.

Regardless of the decision to discontinue Crossfire, I was blessed with a good run and it was fun while it lasted. I will admit to decision to discontinue Crossfire stung but, writing Crossfire is not what I got the most enjoyment from. What I enjoyed the most was being apart of building this community and that does not have to change.

Matt & Aaron and the rest of the staff have done some very good work and they both deserve to be recognized for that and I ask to you to give them a chance.

Darrell
I was not going to say anything about this... but here you go...

I enjoy hornsport and the community however I do fill like Crossfire was one of the reasons I decided to pay a membership and I'm a little upset about this. Look its your site and if that is the direction you want to go I will have to accept it because I paid for a year... Crossfire was a fun treat for me and I feel like it was taken away for no reason?

There is some good articles on here but I want my Crossfire back please....

I know that I sound like a whinny baby ... but I do like the community however I can get the community without paying $5.

Have a good day .... and just 17 more days till football. ..

When You guys added Darrell and started Crossfire he gave ya'll a big boost and ya'll used it to get a lot of publicity at the time. A lot of people joined just because of Darrell no question. To go 18 days forward without a true explanation of why Darrell was stopped is a little bit chicken sh*t. No problem. Looks like I just saved myself 5 bucks a month.

Maybe all of the people whining about crossfire should get him to start a email service or something so you can get your fix. Hell, you never know, Saban may actually come, next time.

X1000

Couldn't have said it any better....

Will someone come out and explain exactly why Crossfire was stopped?....please............

Look I want to clarify... I'm not attacking hornsport I'm just upset with the decision as a paying customer... other than that I like hornsport. ..

I really enjoy Hornsports, I am checking it throughout the day. I just don't understand why HS and crossfire can't coexist together. You will always be known as HS first and foremost. Crossfire is not bigger than HS. It is just another one of the many reasons for info seeking fans to drop by.

Forgive me if my take on some of the posters that object to not having "Crossfire" is somewhat testy sounding.  It's not meant to be.

I suspect what the big objection is that they wanted some "inside info" for free.  Something they couldn't get at IT, 247 or OB.

But, really - what's the difference between OB and IT anyway?  Just different mods trying to deliver the same thing (from the same types of insiders) and trying to scoop each other while doing it.  Both sites are heavily infested with long time assholes that typically hijack every thread with cynicism, poster blasting, self serving crap that nobody cares about.

I would hope this site doesn't travel down that road because, IMO, I think this sites membership is far superior to theirs.  This community has it's share of dissenters, and that is good.  It can't be a forever kum-ba-ya type of site and expect to survive.  We need a few heated discussions, but we need it to be by people who respect each other.  I see this on here.

The truth is I could be an insider.  And let me explain how this works. (I have done this in another thread).  All of us have acquaitances in our lives that have some sort of connection in some sort of interesting career.  I happened to grow up with a couple of fellows that are big time connected with UT.

They are my friends and partners and I respect their privacy.  So, when I have revealed some interesting tidbit they have given me, it is with the understanding that it is okay with them as long as I protect their privacy.  This is where the vague innuendo aspect of "inside info" comes from.  You would do the same I'm sure.  I'm certain that Darrell, Sirhornsalot, Jesus, Eric, Chip, etc. have gone through this.  Unfortunately, sometimes, a reporter forgets this, in order to get the scoop, and jumps the gun.  I know you have seen this as well.

Everyone should also know that misinformation is delivered as well.  This was common in Mack's days.  False info had been delivered just to find out who the mole was.  I know this for a fact.

My point of all this, is those that attend a site simply for "inside info" - well, I have some Atlantic beach property for sale in Ohio.

The community is what counts and if the site is diligent in expanding its sources for UT info - above board as well as a few "Insider" teasers, then I am all in - its my kind of site.

every road has its bumps and chugholes.  you can plow thru them a curse out the window, or you can just wind your way thru them.  DM seems to be doing a better job of that than some of you guys.

Maybe I misunderstood you... but Crossfire was a premium and not free....

I agree with you that this is a great site and great people here and I enjoy many aspects of the site besides crossfire. But I think we can all agree that there is different things on the site that we all like and somethings were not that interested in? But there were a lot of paying members that liked it and are voicing that we don't like that is gone. Is it the end of the world¿ probably not but I can respect the people that enjoyed it are upset about it....

I think a very specific explanation is in order ... anything less is just "vaguespeak".

I don't see what any explanation will do to change where this site is going. Other than satisfying poster curiosity, there is really not a valid reason that I can see for anyone on the staff to answer the how's/whys outside of their original post. As my dad used to say, "because I said so, and that's the only explanation you need."

Joeywa my dad said the same thing and I have told my children the sane thing, but this is a different situation. In one instance you have a parent that is there to protect you, where else were we gonna go. In this instance we are paying for this. Here we have a freedom of choice.

That is a very specious argument.  Nobody has to explain anything ... they just have to deal with the repercussions if they choose not to do so.

Posters on this forum naturally assume a sense of "ownership" of this forum in direct proportion to the effort that they put into it with their participation.  If management does not "get" that, they are missing a big part of what will determine how the future of this forum transpires.

Gilbert, you do indeed have freedom of choice. And yes, Crossfire was part of the Premium content here. By making your voice heard about your displeasure of the feature's removal, you are letting ownership know your feelings. Any further explanation than what was offered up initially is not likely to happen. I can see why the ownership/staff is not offering up any further info, because it will not change the fact that this feature has been put to bed.

If you want to further exercise your freedom of choice in this matter, you can always speak with your wallet and choose not to remain a premium member.

I am opting to remain premium, as I think the contributions will be there and I'm intrigued to see where these changes are going to take this site. Others can/will choose a different path.

(Note: my continual use of "you" is a generalization to this site's members as a whole, not specifically "you.")
