every since aTm joined the sec, the accolades just keep coming to kyle field...

Monarch, what part of Kyle Field is one of the best of Texas treasures, do not you understand?  ;)

Good lordie personified!  Even I do not have any idea what I meant by that!  If any of you have any idea, please let me know!  ;)

I figured out what I meant!  I figured out what I meant!

Monarch!  I was talking about that doggie graveyard that they have over there!  Now it all makes sense!  ;)

Bud,

Calm down, you are talking about the sacred burial ground of Reveilles who are still interested in seeing the Aggies play.  However, my 14 year old dog claims to have had some recent communication with them, and they are very disappointed that they no longer get to play Texas.  I'm not sure why because she is a bona fide Longhorn.

You see, each Reveille stood in the rain, cold, sleet, and hail, and typically watched her team take a licking, but on occasion she stood as a victor on the sidelines.  As a good dog should, she stood by her team, never wavering, win or lose.  However, her team did what she never did, they tucked their tail between their legs and ran to another conference.  Each of the Reveilles are very despondent, humiliated, to be truthful, that the Aggies did not show courage in the face of adversity.

They revealed one other piece of information.  There was one yell leader they didn't trust.  They knew, in the way only a dog can know, that he was not trustworthy.  He was untrustworthy and not very bright.  He tried to fool everyone at times by wearing glasses, but he simply couldn't hide from Reveille.  She knew she was much smarter than he.  His name is Rick Perry.

Well, the deceased Reveilles want Ricky to know they want him to get his damned hands off of The University of Texas and, by extension, Texas A&M.  They are pretty upset about it, and they just want to see the real scoreboard.

Hook 'em!

Yup!  Them doggies are pissed!  By their very nature they are loyal ... but here is the real story bout that Reveille!

The Houston Chronicle is largely anti Texas. Its about as bad in my mind as Texas Monthly.
i've never bought into media conspiracy stuff as it relates to UT sports. ok...maybe craig james or andre ware, but those guys barely qualify as media.

in this case the blogger was quoting a piece from Athlon.

Say what you will about aggy, but I remember the first game I attended there.  I had a date with a girl, that was out of my league and that married me because I had gotten her drunk, and we got to the stadium about 45 minutes early.

Anyway, the Aggie band was marching to the field and I guess they started about 3 or 4 blocks away.   They got closer and closer and louder and louder and when they entered the field they broke out into that hulaballew, kaneck, kaneck crap, that nobody understands,  and all the aggys started cheering and boo hooing.  I have to admit it was pretty impressive.

Seems to me, that other than you getting her drunk, at least she saw through all of that "kaneck, kaneck" crap.  I am not so sure that that speaks so well of you, but at least eventually you came out all the better on that day!  ;)

oh cut it out budreaureye.  doc longhorn's inebriated kyle field accounting.. has an air of romanticism.  doesn't it?

I think it is an interesting story the way doc tells it, but I gotta tell you that I would like to hear that story told from the perspective of Ms. Doc, wouldn't you?  Doc?  Do you think that you could arrange for that?  ;)

The first game I say there I drove away with the distinct impression that it looked like a prison.  It was very depressing.  At the time it was an all male school, with possibly some female vet students.  I am not exaggerating my impression.  It was very depressing.

We won the game, overwhelmingly, but the campus appearance was still dreary, and depressing.

Hook 'em!

LOL!  The truth is she was and is the best thing that ever happened to me and the best damned nurse I have ever had as well.  Without being too maudlin, I know some of you feel about your wives the way I feel about mine.  She is me and I am her and we both know it.

Pardon me if you have said this elsewhere, Doc, but how long have you been married?

Since 1962 - after getting my undergrad degrees from my beloved university.  And, even after all these years, she still makes me gulp with pride.

When gasoline was $.30 a gallon.  And when a Pig Stand was two blocks form the old AHS and the only high schools in Austin were AHS, McCallum and Travis (Austin school system HS's).  When W.R. Robbins was AHS principle and Georgia Robbins the librarian, Wallace Dockall was the basketball coach and Jim Tolbert the football coach.

When 2J's hamburgers used to sell a burger, fries and a coke for $.29.  When there was a Holiday House on the drag that had the best damned burgers in town.  El Patio was a new mexican food place and the Paramount and State theaters actually showed real movies.  When the University Co-op actually sold used class books and UT souveniers were just by products for them.

In other words we were married a long, long time ago and you probably, now, have a pretty good idea of my age as well.  :)

Good for the both of you, Doc!  Now I know of two couples that have been married longer than my wife and me!  ;)
