 god's speed!

I wonder if he'll spend a year on set being groomed for Corso's spot. IMO, Corso hasn't been the same since his stroke.

I think Corso has that spot for as long as he wants/needs it, and Herbie is a pretty reliable wingman. Gotta give him credit for that.

It is funny reading a similar thread on OB. . .. .some of the posters are so eaten up with butt hurt hate . ..they cannot see straight. . .

I've never understood the need for some people to build boogey men. . . . .to be completely unable to recognize strengths and weaknesses. . . . .

They see the world as black and white . . .good or evil.  .. .with no nuances between the 2. . . .

While I don't think any of us are happy the way things ended, most of us are big enough to accept it and move on. I read the comments on the thread on OB and they are so fitting for the level of conversation over there. One of my favorites was "He doesn't know enough about football to be on a show talking about it."

So glad to have this place to call home!!

I can only recall seeing in that setting once, but I thought he pulled it off pretty well.

Anyways, maybe they can get him to leave twitter?

I stopped following Mack because I just couldn't take it any more.  Try it - it's liberating.

Time to move on.

Corso will be 80 before the 2015 season. That's why I suggested that they might give Brown a year - it would incorporate him into the show and let Corso have a farewell tour.

25+ years is an amazing successful run in television, but ESPN is not afraid to do what they think needs to be done with respect to on-air talent.

As far as Corso and his head gear...I don't think they'd ask anyone to try to duplicate that act. They'll tweak the format rather than trying to duplicate Corso.

LOL at Bleacher Report stating the deal was just made. Mack has had a standing offer for over three years. Yes, the details still needed to get worked out but that was just a formality. Not sure why this is a surprise to us, it was fairly well known around the Bristol Campus.

The issue not being discussed here is whether Mack will be allowed to keep his salary/relationship with UT. I can see how it could be seen as a conflict of interest and depending on how involved the Mother Ship wants him involved, it could play out several ways.

I have no problems with Mack joining the ESPN team. I think he will do a very good job and bring enough football knowledge to the table for him to be an asset and with any luck he will replace Holtz which will be a major upgrade.
