This is maybe my favorite Pat Metheny piece ..."As Falls Wichita, so Falls Wichita Falls".  Driving cross country and listening to this late at night, is pretty cool in my book!  Pretty cool video, too!

I love it.  That piece is to driving through the American Midwest at night, as listening to Miles Davis "Kind of Blue" is to driving the length of Manhattan along Broadway at two in the morning on a Saturday night.  Thanks to Duke C #11 for posting this earlier on another thread and reminding me ...

I like it ... I am going to have to listen to more of the Jayhawks!  Yeppers ... that and the Pat Metheny piece are the heart of the Midwest ... Miles Davis is the heart of Manhattan ... and just maybe, music is the heart of us all.

budreaureye, you have class.  Miles Davis' Kind of Blue is one of the best jazz albums of all time.  Coltrane's Blue Train and Sonny Rollins' Saxophone Colossus are equal in prestige.

So many great old time jazzers.  You don't hear much of this these days.  Keep it live my friend.

Thanks Aaron, I must say that you hear a lot of such stuff at my house!    I especially like Miles' "Round About Midnight", "Nefertiti", and hell, if I had never heard "Sketches of Spain", I would not have such an intense appreciation of this classical piece from Joaquin Rodrigo, "Concierto de Aranjuez", and once again, the imagery ain't so bad!

Kind of mesmerizing to me ... lot more trees there than where I grew up with in West Texas!

Nice piece.  My hometown was a small town along the Southern Pacific Rail Road.  it was kind of strung out along the rail line with businesses, light industry and warehouses.  I lived on the street north of and parallel to the tracks.  This music reminds me of when I was a kid noodling along the tracks and in the alley between the tracks and Broadway, the main street ... a whole lot of noodling around looking at small things interspersed with moments of greater import when I came across something bigger and more mysterious, that I had not seen before ... that was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

Holy Cow!  I wuz listening to this, and thinking that this is really nice, then I wondered who that pretty blond was, and then I wondered who that fuzzy haired guy was that looked like  ... uh, Pat Metheny!    I must say that this album is a bit newer than my listening repertoire for Pat Metheny, and I have never referred to his group as PMG!  But, I love it despite my dissonance, thanks for posting this.
