*****GAME THREAD: No. 1 Texas versus Oklahoma*****

I do not disagree. That last interception should be an eye opener. I saw it, you saw it, everyone saw OK loading the right side for pressure. Arch didn't see it and neither did Robertson to adjust line protection and the result was an INT.

Does Sark not allow Arch to make adjustments? If so, does he not trust him? Any good C would see that and make the proper line adjustments. It feels like Sark calls a play and that is the play that they run regardless. That is a problem.
I recently heard (last week) Arch say he always ran the plays as called by Sark.

The O-line was bad, Arch Manning made a couple of great TD throws but otherwise was not good. Special teams was horrible, and playcalling was subpar. Penalties killed this team yesterday as well. Texas not being able to get the ball into the end zone and settling for a field goal seems to be a trend. Have to find a way to take advantage of those opportunities.

One thing that baffles me, right before the half Cooper was gashing OU so why did he not get any touches in the 2nd half? Did he get injured again?

Also, mind you that I'm not genius OC or anything, but it seemed like the OU ends were crashing hard inside, wouldn't a little zone read have paid off in that situation?
Not long after his three long runs, he had a few runs for probably -5 yards total so they went away from him.

Just a very bad decision on Sark's part. Cooper was the type of runner we needed against that front 7.

Not every run is going to bust for 10 yards. Sark should know better.

It's not at all, lol. Look at the evidence.

The Texas offense currently:
-projects to have its fourth straight year of scoring less points than the previous season.
-it currently has the highest 3-&-out drive rate of any team in the SEC
-Texas is averaging 1.63 points per possession in two SEC games. That mark ranks 103rd in the country.

It’s actually slightly impressive that the numbers could be this awful with as much talent as they have.
Really? 6-6?

I fail to understand why UT has such a problem with penalties.....every year.

You forget we have the #1 SOS in the country? And up to this point, it took a 4th quarter miracle comeback and a failed hail Mary for us not to be sitting at 2-3 right now? And it doesnt get any easier.

Not even trying to be a jerk, we've been playing with 🔥 so far and it could absolutely be worse right now lol
SOS may be tough overall.... but thank goodness we don't play BAMA or Georgia.

The hardest part as far as DC's goes is over. There aren't many better than Patricia, Knowles and Venables.

Here's what bothers me about Texas football:

  • This is two years in a row that our interior OL is so bad that it almost makes playcalling impossible.
  • QB development is... let's just say sub par.
  • There seems to be a lack of effort when it comes to WRs blocking.
  • Our head coach wants to be head coach and offensive coordinator. I don't know if he would be a good offensive coordinator if that was his only gig... but it's quite obvious that OC suffers when he is also head coach. And it is obvious that he won't change this voluntarily.
  • We spent the last two years being ranked at the bottom for penalties. This year with a conserted effort to improve, we come in at a non-impressive 92nd in the nation through half the season.

All of these do come back to coaching. Maybe this is extreme at 5-1... there are obviously things we do well (like accrue talent). But these are warning signs that the second half of the season may be less than satisfying.
