I think this is one stupid concept. We (Texas) do this going back to Mack Brown. Be who you are and give the better teams on your schedule more to work on in practice.

The idea - to play vanilla on offense and defense - until you play a good team, at which point you flip the switch and become dynamic is stupid. Have an identity and bring it each week!

Then again, there's a chance I'm the dumb one.

By the way, I've heard several national types and celebrities picking Tennessee. It seems to be the vogue pick this week.

If I watched UTSA and thought it was indicitive of how Texas will play this week, I might choose an upset here as well. I guess this is why we play the games.

That sucks. Was really hoping Justus Terry would play this game. Also, would love to see a little more of Cooper and Michael Terry. One thing is for sure, Sark better have a good game plan to get Arch in rhythm and get that running game going.

Michael Terry surprised me! He looked really good. Looking at a 6-3 running back brought me back to the Edwin Simmons days. Edwin was something special before he blew out his knee!

You do realize what the narrative will be if Texas loses. "Texas is just one play away from being 2-2". At ESPN, they're all primed and loaded for that.

I don't get the big hub bub about last week's game. We won, 30-6. But it's the end of Arch Manning? UTSA beat Texas State the week before, so they were not a bad team. We could have played better offensively, sure. But having witnesses the past 8-9 games now, why would you worry that Arch has now changed or grew out of being good?

Why does ESPN seem to detest Texas so much? During last weekend's coverage, they seldom mentioned Texas at all or the game we had just won. But since then, it's been A) Calling Arch Manning into question, and/or 2) Predicting a Tennessee win.

It's so blatant I can't believe more aren't speaking out some.

I don't think anyone is downplaying UTSA, but Arch had a horrible game. 16/32 for 161 yards and a 28.8 QBR. That will get you beat in Knoxville.
As far as ESPN goes, I think they're still reeling from Joe Tessatore's proclamation that Texas was back after the ND game.

I agree. I think Cooper will end up being the horse by the end of the season barring injury. Smothers and Brown are great running backs, but Cooper is a solid 5 star freshman.

Honestly, it's a little concerning that Arch had that bad of a game against UTSA. He's been in this system long enough to where you would think he should be running the offense a lot more efficiently. I watched some videos of the Film Guy on Youtube and he was able to point out Arch missing a lot of open receivers in his progressions when we play Ohio St. I'm hoping the UTSA game was just a hangover game and Arch didn't play well due to the distractions the week prior, but I'm a bit concerned to be honest.

Dee you know I have always thought of you as one of the best posters on this forum. Again, I say bravo!....You have nailed it.

I have always been amazed that some folks opinion is sought after when they say the stupidest things imaginable.....Hiding true game plan?.....tricking the enemy?....great idea....but how do you know the real plan will work if you have not tested it under fire?

Vince Lombardi....widely considered the best football coach ever said....football is 2 things....blocking and tackling. If you block better and tackle better than the other team, you win. DKR...the best coach Texas ever had said he was gonna dance with the one that brung him....A kung Fu master once said....never fear the man that practices a thousand moves. Fear the man that practices one move a thousand times....

I expect we will win by 10 points.

After the game and all of the worrying, I recalled how Nick Saban would play a difficult game. The following week Alabama had a lesser opponent. It looked like Alabama regressed. The following weeks Alabama would kick it up a notch. I remember Tom Laundry's Cowboys did the same. In addition to winning, there is a psychological approach of peaking at the playoffs. Let's see how the season plays out. All of the media talking heads are just stirring the pot to increase their ratings. I recall on Monday Night Football how Howard Cosell would go off on they should have done this and that. Don Meredith would remind him, "Howard, it is a whole lot different down there than it is up here."
