I have a different take than most with Mateer. I want him to play. I hope he does play because if so, I see it as Advantage Texas. For the following reasons:

1) Tape: We have tape on Mateer. We have tape on their recently installed Offense and how Mateer operates it. Not so with Hawkins.

2) Technically: Platform is not good. Mechanics are not good. Misses high and right often - watch the tape. He is a Splashy Player, likes the Bling and has the Mahommes Syndrome. His Fundamentals are far from being Solid.

3) Sentiment; Headlines are on Mateer. I like that for Arch, Sark and Texas. Let Mateer have the spotlight going into RRR. By the way, he has not experienced an environment like what he will experience in Dallas. Hawkins has.

4) Mateer is a competitor and brings it on every play. So, you have seen his Best. He has no ceiling from here. He is capped. Texas DC and Assts know exactly what they will get.....or, they should. You can game plan for this guy. If not, call Saban and ask him how he played Manziel on the 2nd time he faced him.

5) Mateer has not played a Defense that Texas puts on the field. Mateer put 24 points on Mich and Aub........ At Home! Big Deal!!! 24 Points? But, the media and many others focus on the Style and Splash of HOW Mateer does it.

Conclusion: I just dont see it. I have rewatched The Florida Game twice after being in The Swamp to take in live.. I have my takes and it also differs than most and will leave it that. But, I will say this: IF Texas matches their physicality on display at Ohio State, then Texas will Win this Game. Without a Doubt. I want Mateer. Give me Mateer. This Texas D should light him up like the 4th of July. He is not good. He's not. He is a Winner, a Fighter and brings it. Deal with it and take it to him. I'm high on The Horns here and coming off The Loss only gives me more conviction going into this Game. Hook'em!!! Give me The Horns in The RRR

We'll have to see how much this changes because Sark likes to play head games with the injury report.

OU's D-line is going to wreak havoc on our O-Line. There will be 6-10 sacks by them this game. Arch has open WRs but can he be decisive on if he wants to run or throw?

Can Pete dial up the defensive pressure to cause TOs and sacks?

One thing I have neglected to acknowledge from Saturday's loss at Florida, . . . despite how shitty we played everywhere you looked, we still had a shot to at least tie and send to OT. Had there been 30 seconds more on the clock, we might have done it.

Scientists are still trying to figure out how this happened.

Its a really bad decision. OU has 4 OL out for this game. There's no way Mateer has healed. Since he won't throw so well he will try to run and I think PK understands this. Let him run and just beat his ass.
