**Running College Football Updates Thread**

Sure wish Michigan was playing Texas tonight.
Michigan played Washington the way Texas should have played them, I hope PK and even Sark learned how to properly beat a pass happy team, Michigan DB's played physical and they tackled very well in space, Texas did not...Michigan ran the football and ran it some more...Texas was stubborn and say they are a run first offense, but lets be honest ,this year we were a pass first team, and we had the horses in the backfield to be a run first team, but Sark just couldn't help himself...Penix threw scared late in the game , he was falling away on just about every pass, because they beat him up and hurt him, we didnt lay a glove on Penix

going forward Texas is going to have to adjust its mentality and philosophy in the SEC, they need to flex their muscle and improve at the DB position...and commit to the run, and they may have no choice because whoever is QB1 will not have AD, XW, or JS...but we do have Baxter and Blue, and we could be a two headed monster

Im still proud of you Longhorns, we came close but there is still work to be done

Michigan was more successful because they had a more sound defense overall. We're not there yet, but obviously Sark is recruiting to fix that.

In the first three quarters, Sark did run more than pass, especially if you discount the 2 minute drill to end the half. He obviously had to pass more in the 4th to play catch-up, but overall, Sark's game plan was to be run heavy which he was doing. He stated as much in the post-game PC. In the end, Penix being on fire and our defense unable to stop him took Sark out of his game plan, but he still almost pulled it off.

Michigan was able to get more pressure on Penix than we could. I think they especially created more pressure on the edges. We didn't have the DEs to do that. Additionally, they're secondary was better and their DBs were a lot more physical with Washington's WRs, which threw off timing and didn't let their passing game get in a rhythm. That said, the refs were definitely letting them play last night, which allowed Michigan's DBs to be physical.

Texas vs Washington

The number between pass and rush was pretty even in the 1st half. This was derived from the play by play and I might have made a mistake but here is what I came up with. I think the data speaks for itself. I believe Sark scripts his first 30 plays or whatever but we should ran it down their throats. take what they give you. We gained more per rush attempt than we did per pass attempt

First half
18 rushes for 132 yards, 7.33 ypc
10-19 pass att for 121 yards, 6.37 ypa
4 punts

Actually missed one play sack on Ewers for -6 yds.

From a perspective that we couldnt stop them. Whether its our scheme or secondary, take your pick. Just rush, do not fumble (lol obviously we did twice), and keep them off the field.

It will be interesting to see how hot Ryan Day's seat gets at Ohio State. They've lost three in a row to the Wolverines and watched them take the conference title each year. Now, they've won a national championship. Day is losing the battle and although they seem to continue to collect talent at the top of the standings, this was definitely not one of their better teams this year.

Lots of holes to fill from departures. Lots of pressure on Day.

I think he gets canned if he loses to them four years in a row

Not sure who deserves the blame, but all the passes that were batted down skews the stats a bit. That was pretty frustrating to see
