2023-24 Transfer Portal Thread (PORTAL CLOSED)

Evan was suspended for at least one game this past season and then was either injured or just not part of the team toward the end of the year. He was also injured in the game against Arkansas. IMO there is a lot of negative history between Stewart and the Texas program for him to sign with the Horns, but we'll see. I still think Arkansas is a better fit for him, and Oregon could also be a destination.

Transfer updates from On3...

- Texas remains the favorite to land UTSA DE Trey Moore

- Texas A&M WR Evan Stewart is reportedly most interested in development for the NFL as opposed to more NIL money, but Alabama and Texas are not surefire options or even likely to happen. Oregon and USC will be in the mix, and Tennessee should be making a push.

Worthy and Mitchell will both be playing in the NFL. Not sure why Texas isnt considered especially if Ewers comes back, especially in regards to NFL development.

Sark is as good as anybody in college ball at getting receivers and qbs into the NFL.
There is something else going on with Stewart. Not sure we will ever know the full story, but I trust Sark.
And you know that 99 percent of these young men (especially WR’s and QB’s) want to be developed by Sark.
His cred cannot be denied. (Except for other crybaby big 12 coaches)

I don’t buy this. We clearly need two starting receivers from the portal, since most likely the only returning WR with any catches is Cook with 8. We have only really gone after Golden so far. I suspect we knew this was coming. If he lands at Texas, look out.

Why are folks assuming he’s a cancer? Did something happen while he was at A&M that I missed?
Why assume the younger guys can’t step up? Sark has always used very little rotation. He does value experience, but I get the feeling if Stewart isn’t a good fit culture-wise then the young backups will do. They’re already here because Sark wanted them here. Develop them and next man up.

Money was more important the first time around. Cook told him he was going to aTm to catch 14 passes and block for the RB passing game. lol

Bobby Burton and the boys have talked a lot about how careful Sark is being / wants to be - to guard against players that would not fit in the locker room, or mess with the culture that has been created. Coach Banks said they look for signs of "respect." Signs that a player "respects" coaches, the game, the locker room, the developmental process..... something along those lines(all from memory).

I have no idea if this applies to Stewart. But not pursuing doesn't mean the player isn't talented. Stewart is about as talented a WR as you will find.

As Corso would say, "Not so fast my friend."

Word is Mitchell is considering returning.

I could see that. As good as Mitchell was this year, he was usually the second option to XW. If XW is off to the NFL, that leaves the door open for AM to really go off next year, especially if QE returns as is expected. Could significantly improve his draft stock even more.

I have high hopes for Moore and Niblett, but if they couldn’t crack the rotation this year I would not want to count on them starting next year. Hopefully they (along with Wingo) play next year, and push to start in ‘25.

Sark doesn't believe in a rotation at WR. At Bama he had three WRs that got 95% of the WR targets and he's doing the same here. He likes to put his best receivers out there. It seems to work. He had a WR win the Heisman.
