The problem is very few of us have confidence this will be fixed this week.
Rod Babers does a great job of breaking this type of thing down on the Blitz (24/7) and Inside Texas. On the other hand, not understanding an opponents half time offensive adjustments and/or not knowing how to defensively adjust yourself is simply being outcoached. Convince me I am wrong.
EDIT: I promised myself I would stay away from these rants, yet here I am.
We had a major problem with in breaking routes the past few years, particularly year 1 of the new staff. Things had been better in that regard until we played Houston.
We have struggled with crossers and mesh routes the entirety of this new staff and it was a very big problem last week.
Our defensive backfield was pretty decimated last week and that may have contributed to these problem areas becoming huge issues. With some health this weekend, and presumably some more coaching, hopefully we have firmed things up there. If we have, I'd say hats off to the staff on addressing the pressing needs.
