So, Ole Miss is considering Beard for their new head coach.

Man, so many different thoughts on this. If Beard is hired by Ol Miss, are they that desperate? Maybe Texas should have kept him?

In some ways worse. We didn’t let Beard fester. Oats is letting this thing get really bad. Driving a gun to a murder at the request of the murderer. And the murderer (alleged) was on your team too. So was the charged accomplice and another player.  But I guess “winning” is everything. 

I don’t like that mentality. Shows a lack of moral courage and character. 

Yea, the more I read about this maybe Oats isn't the guy we go after.

Before the season, there was concern that this team's weakness was that it didn't have any big bodies. That seems to be playing out against opponents who can out-muscle us on the boards. So it's a match-up problem that some teams can take advantage of. Not sure how you coach around that when it's a past recruiting issue.

I am officially in the we need to go find the best available basketball coach camp. Terry has done a decent job but he is not the long term answer...

My sentiments exactly regarding Terry coaching like Smart. I don't really remember a late season fade with Barnes, I just remember being very disappointed by losing more than we should.

I can't remember what year it was, but we started out 17-0 and were ranked #1 for a week. Then we had a tailspin that never ended and we screwed the pooch. That was under Barnes.

You sure you're not thinking about the 81-82 Horns when Mike Wacker went down with an injury? That was Abe Lemons' last season. Started 14-0, Wacker went down and finished 16-11.

No, not thinking of that. Barnes' teams were notorious for fading in the 2nd half of the season (except for TJ Ford's year).

My opinion on Ole Miss is that the AD is doing the this to see the reaction from the alumi, boosters, students,  etc.  But the AD for Ole Miss is a former player for Ole Miss so maybe he has a pass? 

Man, Oats did or allowed for players to show a lack of class in their introduction on Wednesday night with the act of announciing Miller with them doing some sort of TSA scanning of him.

That might be right. I remember we were loaded that year.

We are up at the half on Kansas, but we were sloppy offensively the last 3-4 minutes. Had chances to be up more. The good news is that Baylor lost earlier as did K-State.

Played good defense but KU's shooting was awful today.

We win by 16 over Kansas 75-59. We will be the 2 seed in the conference tournament.  One of the best all around whole team wins since early in the season.

Guaranteed 2 seed in the ncaa tourney?

That seems to be the thought. NET and RPI hasn't been updated after the win today but they will be around 8-9 in both of those before the big 12 tournament.

It would be the 3rd 2 seed in school history, best since 2008, and only second to the 1 seed achieved in 2001. 

Losing a shot at the Big 12 championship was disappointing for sure. If Texas underachieves the 2 seed, I think Terry would get strong consideration but certainly leaves it open for him to be replaced. On the other hand, an elite 8 run would make it hard to fire the coach that got you there.
