The rankings for Jelani McDonald are all over the place. And what's really curious/interesting is that his offer list is extremely light. Less than 10 offers and none from any of what are considered the elite teams.

On3 has him at #41 nationally and 7th in the state.

247 has him at #97 nationally and 20th in the state.

Rivals has him at #204 nationally and 35th in the state.

ESPN has him at #237 nationally and 37th in the state.

The 247 Composite has him at #113 nationally and 20th in the state.

The On3 Consensus has him at #110 nationally and 20th in the state.
ESPN seems to be the outlier more often than not. I don't trust their rankings. I know every service has their own method, but ESPN seems sloppy in their approach.

To me the "tweeter" is the real question mark. When his body gets to its final size will he stay quick enough to play DB or big and strong enough to play LB? Will he end up like Watts, Overshown, Blackwell, or something entirely different?
Great question. Ultra athletic. You get him on campus and then find a spot for him.

He played CB at the all-american game and apparently was locking down some of the top WRs in the country. That was a pretty impressive date point regarding his cover skills.

Now, like you say, what does he grow into? Given where he is starting athletically, I wouldn't be surprised to see him maintain enough speed and athleticism to continue to cover, be it at nickel CB or safety.

Agreed and they now have the fewest scouts actually evaluating these guys. Usually the best website is the one putting in the most resources to get it right at the time.

Have any of the sites said anything on this?  Did he visit today?  That's a grown ass man on film.

Looking at his Twitter feed, my guess is getting him into school could be a problem.

But that's a man child on film.
It seems his only offers so far are from JUCO and I believe Coastal Carolina.  You might be on to something here.  Or maybe he is just a small town find and the new version of Michael Oher. (Edit)

Wonder what his academic status is ? Hard to believe a dominant player like that got overlooked in these times of recruiting

I saw straight line beast mode, threw guys around like rag dolls, but lots of arm tackles. I really didn't see much athleticism, although it might be there. May be a good project, IMHO.
